i was buy and using BLSK but someone had pointed out unless theres a sigil on the item ya need then use a master work salvage kit. so i started to and with the BLSK i was getting 1-3ectos. with the masterwork salvage kit i was getting 1 ecto at the most and halfd the time no ectos. this was out of salvageing 20 rares. ad i havent switched back to using a BLSK to see if indeed the BLSK gives you more ectos in return or if they nurfed it

So if I understand your post correctly, let me explain. (I am on my phone right now so forgive me if I make an error in typing or memory)

BLSK gives a 50% chance for rare components such as ectos and 100% for upgrade components such as sigils or runes. Therefore, you ALWAYS get your runes but 50% of the time get 0 ectos, and 50% of the time get 1-3.

Master Kits, which I believe are equivalent to Mystic which I use, are around 80-85% for upgrade components and only 25% rate mats. So, 75% of the time no ectos, 25% 1-3.

The kits only affect the chances of getting the materials, not the bulk. I’ve gotten ectos off rates with even worse than my mystic kits before. But I am still pulling in 1-3 ectos regardless of kit. Just varying how often.

Edit- To add, a couple nights ago I salvaged maybe 8 rares with Master/Mystic and 3 of them put out 3 ectos if I recall, multiple 2 or 1, and two gave nothing.

You craft it at the MF. It’s account bound. It’s not cheap. It’s just like a Master kit but with 250 uses instead of 25. I’m pretty sure it’s currently not cheaper than 10 Master kits. The recipe and list of needed components are on the wiki. Search for Mystic Salvage Kit. I think the entry on Mystic Forge will also list the recipe.

They have exactly the same % chances of return, the only difference is the size of the stack – mystic comes in stacks of 250 which some people prefer as it lasts longer and takes up less space than multiple kits which may be needed during a farming session.

I guess it’s RNG at work. Last night I salvaged 3 rares and got 1 ecto out of them, while a guildie also salvaged 3 rares and got 8. Later that night I salvaged 2 rares and got 6 ectos.

BTW, it was always 0-3 possible ectos, so it’s always been entirely possible to get no ectos from salvage…

Mystic Salvage Kits appear to be functionally the same as Master Salvage Kits. the only difference is how you get them. Master is purchased with gold, Mystic is a Mystic Forge recipe including the gem item ‘Mystic Forge Stone’, so the more expensive gems are, the higher cost Mystic Salvage Kit will be.
I have worked it out that Mystic Salvage Kit is cheaper than Master Salvage Kit only if you can buy 100 gems for less than 0.93 gold. it’s been a while since gems were that low, so for now the only benefit to Mystic kit is convenience at having 250 uses instead of 25.

Mystic/Master Salvage Kit returns less ectos than Black Lion Salvage Kit. Others have estimated the return to be about:
M/MSK is around 0.85 ecto/rare
BLSK is around 1.25 ecto/rare

I have also worked it out that, depending on gem and ecto prices, it is sometimes more profitable to use BLSK instead of M/MSK just for the increased number of ectos you get.
but for now, unless gem prices drop below 1.5g/100gems or ecto prices go above 40s, it is more profitable to salvage rares with M/MSK than BLSK

that’s ignoring runes/sigils. If there is a valuable rune or sigil, I would use the BLSK. that 20% chance of not getting your divinity rune is just not worth the chance.
