Well there are numerous sources for armor sets. The most common ones are:
1. Buying Exotics off the Trade Post – Expensive but certainly the easiest way to get items if you know exactly what you want.
2. Buying Exotic gear for Karma at the Temple vendors in Orr – There are roughly half a dozen temples spread throughout Orr, each with a Vendor selling an Exotic armor set for 42000 Karma a piece. Since Karma is easy to come by it might be a good place to start. However the Karma sets all have very mixed stats so it’s not good for optimizing.
3. Farming explorable Dungeons for Tokens – This is by far the most popular route to go as Dungeons are fairly quick and easy (there are exceptions). At least Ascalonian Catacombs and Citadel of Flame are constantly being farmed. You have to farm them quite a lot if you want a complete set but at least you end up with a lot of extra money and a decent skin.
4. If you like WvW you can farm a set here too – But it takes comparatively long and you only get to by a “Soldier” set.
I’d recommend you first settle on what kind of build/playstyle you want to focus on and then pick a stat combination that supplements it well.
Then you find which Dungeons set offers your preferred stats and start farming it on a daily basis. With enough tokens you can start buying your items one by one.
A good place to get an overview of sets is gw2armor.com and wiki.gw2.com
However the Karma sets all have very mixed stats so it’s not good for optimizing.
Don’t forget that you can mix-and-match these items. They all have the same skin so they all look exactly the same. Pick up the pieces that you’re interested in from each of the vendors to create the set you’re looking for. Then, buy 6 Superior Runes from the TP and you’ll be good to go with your own custom made armor set.

Those should help you out.
Keep in mind you can transmute gear for the skin
So you can have the skin you want, with the stats you want.
Hey i know i may be asking a stupid question but really i have spent a lot of time trying to find what to wear as a boon\ i don’t die guardian tank i guess not focusing on healing just boon and health and toughness. WHAT IS THE BEST ARMOR SET TO WEAR!

Soldiers (Power/vitality/toughness) or Sentinel (Vitality/power/toughness).
Soldiers can be acquired from 3 dungeons (AC, HotW and I think SE).
Sentinel can only be crafted or bought from TP at the moment.
I would still throw in some cleric gear for some healing power since guardians have sooo many ways to heal themselves it’d be a wast not to spec into it a little bit.
Clerics can be bought on Trading Post or crafted as well.
For boonduration:
2 Superior rune of the water
2 major rune of sanctuary <- Honor of the Waves dungeon from which you can also get Soldier gear.
2 superior rune of the monk <- Ascalonion Catacombs from which you can also get Soldiers gear.
Also the greatsword from both AC and HotW have pretty sweet skins and they got PVT.

I have become a real fan of healing power. I have a lot of it on my guardian, not so much on my other professions. When I hit my signet heal I get back to full, most every time, even from very low health.
I’d have to go in game to tell you how she’s statted, and I’m hardly a theorycrafter or min-maxer, but I seem to have lucked into a very viable build for durability. DPS, not so much, I had problems getting better than copper rewards with the Southsun zerg on her until I gave up on support from the edges and waded in with my sword.
edit: As to getting Bolt, you need either a lot of money (thousands of gold) or a lot of time (could take a year, though some did it very quickly, likely with lots of money and guild support). It’s a legendary and needs ungodly amounts of rare materials, full world exploration (including wvw lands), a lot of luck in the Mystic Forge, and a very pricey (or lucky drop) precursor weapon.
Otoh it doesn’t have stats better than exotics, so it’s really something to go for for looks and to show off your dedication (or your wealth).
