I’m trying to get a precursor and was curious how to go about doing this if I don’t do dungeons. I was wondering if farming world bosses work well? I never really did this and think you can only get one chest a day? But is looting the actual boss have a chance for getting a precursor?

World Boss bonus chests have an increased chance of dropping a precursor. The bonus chest is once a day (account-bound) however the chest that spawns after their death is character-bound. I’d personally recommend trying other farms over doing bosses multiple times a day, with the exception of Wurm/Tequalt, they give loads of loot even the second time (given you change characters.)

Other things you could try (though I’ve got little experience with myself) are Chest-Farm in Silverwaste and judging from the groupfinder Frostgorge Sound still has some sort of Champion Farm. Chances of actually getting a precursor (let alone the precursor you want) is so low that I’d focus on getting the gold rather than getting lucky.

Anything has a super small chance of dropping a precursor so any place you farm gold, you could still get lucky, the more loot/minute the more chances.

I guess I’ll farm gold. Is wvw still pretty good for gold?

Farming, or concentrating on a particular area of the game to accrue gold is not the way. Play as many different areas of the game to avoid grinding. Do the world bosses, dungeons, WvW, map completion, Fractals, and never stay in the same place for very long. Your gold stockpile and luck will be better off for it. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

If you’re like most players you will need to buy a precursor and not actually get it as a drop.

Use laurels to convert to T6 mats. Run world bosses to sell rares/ectos, run the SW event over and over for mats/items to salvage/Rares to salvage (this will likely be most lucrative for you for time spent). Run EoTM train.

Dungeons give a nice boost, but aren’t entirely necessary anymore.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

I don’t have any experience with WvW, but I spend most of my time in the Silverwastes nowadays. The Breach and Vinewrath events yield lots of loot. I’ve made about 2g a day by selling rare and exotic drops I got there. Try to get your magic find percentage up as well (or use a MF booster just before the big events) to increase the chance at getting exotics.

The chance of getting a precursor as a drop is very, very small – getting the one you want/need is even smaller. Having said that, I threw 4 random rares into the Mystic Forge the other day, and got and an axe precursor. It does happen… just don’t count on it. Best bet is to farm for gold, I’d say. :-)
