Is it me or are casters- so far elementalist and Mesmer- really weak compared to all other characters? Really so for the Mesmer… I gave up on that one by level 5. The elementalist is merely ok… but I just don’t feel the power of his spells, even on the same level enemy. Now with the warrior, thief, guardian, and ranger, I mow down targets of the same level. You would think with the caster type toons- especially with the array of spells that the elementalist has- you would be dominating the enemy. But their spells do such little damage.

Anyone notice this as well? Anyone have suggestions to improve my elementalist? Other than gearing up on plus power/precision items? I love Fire and lightning spells, but like I said… I’m just not feeling the damage I would compared to my other melee/ranged characters.

You need to explore the classes and their skills more. My elementalist can demolish 6+ equal level enemies at once solo, and easily racks in a ton of damage in groups or during events with my double dagger fire build

what level are you now? Did you feel like you were dishing out damage equally compared to other characters when starting out?

I definitely like a few of the elementalist abilities… I know meteor kickskitten but fireball and the primary storm/electric one, I can’t remember what it’s called… they just kinda bounce off targets. don’t seem like they do much. I’ve been using a staff because I enjoy fireball/meteor. Might try the daggers.

I’m only 20, so I’m not extremely far yet… I used staff for a while, but all the grape was too situational for me.

With double daggers I open with that fire rush ability, then I cast the fire ring, the fire cone, then that powerful #5 ability that does ridiculous damage to anything that is on fire. All of that is aoe damage, so if you line it all up right, everything is dead in 5 seconds for the most part.

I haven’t seen any classes really outdamage me yet, but so far I really solo a lot.

The big gripe I have about double daggers is the enormous CD on Fire Grab. Other classes can simply keep going but in the case of mesmer and elementalist we need to wait for things to refresh.

Fire grab is sweet, but really only worth it with the burn condition. Scepter/Dagger seems to be the way to go for me running fire, it kicks out some really crazy damage. Use combo’s 2-3 and you get some freakin crazy AoE there with a regen. And that’s just fire. I have also noticed Earth do some absolutely insane damage in PvE with Scepter/Dagger and I am not even spec’d into it. Cant even imagine how nasty that damage would be fully spec’d and built for it – super survivability with really good damage and perhaps one of the best dagger/dagger builds for hopping on to the melee train every now and then. Lots of stuns in that one too.

I am playing a mesmer at moment, and i can ensure i have no prob at taking 4+ enemies of the same level, the dps is quite good with the right weapons and ur extremely high mobility ensures that u take minimal damage by kiting, stealthing, blinking etc the whole time.

I have to admit though u will have to work quite harder than a warrior for a kill, if u like more of a relaxed kind of levelling forget about him, needs lots of attention in every fight with more than 2-3 mobs.
