I’m planning to craft a set of ascended armor.

I was thinking of crafting Yassith’s set coz I need viper stats.

Is it reasonable to craft Yassith itself( too expensive) or just craft the cheapest set and change stats to viper in mf?

If yes :
what is the cheapest ascended armor set ?
If I do this will be there any difference?

There is no cheapest Ascended Armor, the cost of the Inscription is such a small part of the price best to just craft the set you have excess t6 for, of course that’s just my opinion others may disagree.

The problem with this is I’d need to know your armor class to answer. Some sets are really valuable to light armor for instance that are just abandoned and dirt cheap for heavy armor. This effects the price of T6 mats quite a bit since I still think the blood vials are way more expensive than the totems.

The cheapest ascended armor is Rampagers (the rest aren’t answering OP’s question smh)

short version:

• If you have no gear and already own all the recipes (or none of them), craft the gear you want directly.
• If you otherwise own the gear, it’s cheaper to forge to the stats you prefer.
• If you own recipes, it’s cheaper to craft those first and stat change after.
• If you don’t own any recipes and lack any fulgurite components, it’s faster to craft something else and stat change.

Details

There are several components to the ‘cheapest way to craft’:

• The recipe for the insignia. Costs gold and laurels or commendations or some cost local map currency.
• The recipes for the components. Costs gold and laurels or sometimes via map currency.
• Crafting the insignia. HoT insignias requires fulgurite, which is largely ‘free’ in the sense that it doesn’t require coin, but not everyone has the mats to spare. Gathering enough can be more annoying than the cost of the other components, which are otherwise identical (aside from the ‘activator’, e.g. blood or totems or whatever).
• Crafting the components.

In the case of Yassith’s Breastplate,

• The insignia is 52 gold
• The components are 32 gold.

Crafting Rabid instead costs:

• 46g insignia
• 32g components
• 10g for forging = 5 ecto, viper’s exotic (also costs +20 spirit shards, which might be worth 10g to some people or nothing to others).

yes it does, just not overly often

Indeed: anything that can drop random exotic gear can also drop random ascended gear. Tequatl is simply the only place to get a Sunless weapon drop. (There’s too little data to establish whether that is in addition to the random ascended or as part of the same drop possibilities.)

The chances, however, are so tiny that people should ignore it as a potential source.
