Q:
diminishing returns
Specifics on DR have not been made public by Anet.
Basically DR to get rid of DR you need to spend a more or less equal time doing something else. (at least another area, not sure about mob type).
DR does take time to set in based on what I have seen it takes more than a few hours. I have done the occasional karka shell farm for a few hours with a few guild mates, without a noticable change in drops. As drops are chance based, you need a large data set to say if there is a statistically significant change.
The reason why nothing is known is because as soon as Anet makes the data known, botters can use it to make better bots. And it’s made combat bots.
The ironic thing is that the botters are also in the best position to figure these sort of things out assuming they want.
I’d love to know everything that is known about DR in GW2. Can someone help me?
You and everyone else. As mentioned above, it is likely that the only people that know more about the exact nature of DR other than the Anet Dev team are large scale bot farmers (that can gather tons of data from multiple locations to analyze).
I’d be willing to bet, since it’s a server side change (that Anet can do without requiring a client update), the exact formulas and parameters of how DR works changes over time to try and render analysis of large scale farming data inaccurate. At least that’s what I would do (kind of RNG the DR settings).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

All i can say that DR is not applied to crafting mats. You can farm mobs for powerful blood or whatever 10 hours at the same spot and the droprate will be as good/bad as when you started. So it mostly just effects the drop of blue/green crap.
Also i’ve noticed a while ago that they changed how it worked on exp/karma gain from events. Before the feature update after around an hour it dropped to nearly zero from one event to the next. Now it goes down slower and i first even noticed it. However before also when i just logged of for an hour it was back to normal, now not, i had to do some events in another zone, and even then it started to go down again after just doing 2-3 events on my old level spot.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
