elite skills
Because 1.5 seconds of having someone incapable of doing anything whist playing one of the strongest burst damage classes in the game is really, really, really good.
Except not really because Basilisk Venom is the worst elite thieves have and can arguably be the worst elite in the game, especially after the completely unnecessary nerf it got a while ago
Basilisk venom bypasses a boss’s defiant stacks that would normally absorb crowd control. A thief on my dungeon team times it quite well to shut down bosses at appropriate times. I’m not saying it’s uber godly or anything, but if you’re proficient with it, it can be useful.

Worst elite in the game. Have you used elixir X on an engineer?

I haven’t personally used it but reading the description on the wiki makes me say that it’s more useful then Basilisk Venom

I have personally yet to encounter a boss where stunning them for 1.5 seconds instead of more damage would have made any kind of a difference. Although I always run with a strong team so that could be overwhelming the need for CC.
may be they need to remove it from elite to basic skill thanks for all the great replys

As an example, my teammate does that on stuff like kholer’s spin or howling king/rumblus’s scream just to shorten the animation and shave a few cumulative seconds in total fight time. He strikes at points where there would usually be a few seconds of downtime for DPS, which is during attacks that could down your teammates. Our team destroys bosses quickly, regardless, but hey, he has fun with it. :P
I forgot to add that it’s one of the shortest cooldown elites in the game that can take advantage of rune of lyssa’s condi removal and all-boon trigger, which is also what my teammate uses.
That said, it’s still a skill with a very small niche.
back when it didnt stun and instead petrified it was hilariously strong.
Because petrify has no counter. You cant stunbreak it. You cant move. And you cant skill.
The duration was shorter than most stuns maybe, but 3 seconds of stun is worthless against any class carrying a stunbreak skill or trait.
It probably doesnt deserve to be an elite anymore, but the way it was, was just too strong.
Oh and, useless elites thread? Go play an ele ;__;
I can summon a sword that removes the entire reason to play my class (5 skills instead of 20, all aimed at doing nothing but damage, but most of them require me to dip into melee range without defenses. kittening genius.)
I can summon an elemental that takes 1-2hits then dies. It’s also weaker than a kittening ember consumable item.
And I can turn into a slow moving tornado that removes all of my skills, and utilities (and thus defense) turning me into a larger, squishier, slower moving, and less damaging target. This was apparently so strong that the underwater version of it got nerfed because all the other classes were having trouble finding their dodge keys (of which a single use gets you out of the area of the attack, and free to lol at the ele as you kill him at 700range while he floated there uselessly)

Elixir X is an elite, that is really 3 different elites from different professions, all of which are terrible except in very VERY specific circumstances, which are different for all 3 of them. And then it’s thrown into an RNG so you can’t even get the one that could possibly be useful in a certain circumstance. And all 3 strip you of weapons and utilities that you need to survive or be useful.
How is that better than ANYTHING?
@gimme: the difference is that engineer can actually choose to use supply crate underwater even too, one of the better engineer elites, where as a thief you can ONLY use basilisk venom, the worst of them… why cant we at least use summon thieves guild underwater, that makes no sense to me
One of the thieves best elites for PvP.
Am I good?… I’m good.

Played much pvp? It’s quite epic that you have a free pass of 1.5 seconds on someone. Playing as a thief, that is almost enough to completely obliterate someone. And besides that, it has a really really low cooldown.
