Is there any way I can be notified when someone in my guild or on my contacts list logs in or out I can get notified in my chat box or a sound maybe?

Make sure the “System Messages” box is checked on the chat tab options (from the dropdown on the channel tab, that is). That will let you know when your friends log in or out. Unfortunately, there is no notification of when a guild-mate logs in or out unless he/she says something.
