I would put my vote for an alienware 13-15, it got high storage, not like razer, and really nice specs, also you can buy a graphic amplifier for 200-300$ now anytime, which would boost the performance a lot.

Ah, before you spend the extra hundreds of dollars for the Alienware logo, take a look at the specs on the Alienware machine. Then go to someplace like CyberPower and spec out exactly the same build and compare the price. That’s for desktops, anyway, I’m less savvy about laptops since they sort of have to come in a lump package that you can’t upgrade worth beans.

Seriously take this advice I was stupid and young and went with a fancy alienware.. I have to play gw2 on medium/low just be lucky to get 30-50fps without anything going on.. and you can absolutly forget wvw battles youre lucky to get 12 fps on super low fighting anything over 30+ people.

I paid $900 for mine at the time (lucky massive company discounts) and I wish I knew what I know now about building a pc..

1 its by far cheaper if you do your research i could pay $1500 for a laptop or pay $1200 for a gaming pc with monitor, keyboard 16gb of ram, top of the line graphics and expandability.

but if you absoluty must use a laptop be warned alienware does not like gw2.

Right, tomorrow is Amazon Prime day. Supposedly they’ll have huge sales for their Prime customers. I have no idea if any computers qualify as Prime merchandise — I have yet to feel I want to spend $99 a year for faster shipping since I don’t think I’ve yet spent $99 in shipping from Amazon in any one year.

But if you’re a Prime, tomorrow might be a good day to buy your next GW2 computer.

If you do this, do not go to CyberPower and do not go to iBuyPower. Use ecollegepc.com instead, or even better use pcpartpicker and build the thing yourself. Something equivalent to my computer can be had for like $550-600 if you pick up some used parts.

That being said, if you really do need a laptop, don’t waste your money on Alienware or Razer. I’m not up to date on the laptop market right now but Asus, Lenovo, or some other brand is most likely going to have a much better computer for your dollar.

but if you absoluty must use a laptop be warned alienware does not like gw2.

That’s going to depend on what you get. There are Alienware computers out there that will handle GW2 just fine, you just need to make sure you buy a good one.

£1500? Shouldn’t be too a big problem getting a good laptop being able to handle gw2 for your buck. MSI and Asus have quite good gameing series.
I’d also like to agree to the other posters about Alienware being totally overpriced. You’ll get the same power for way less money.
If buying online outside of the UK is an option for you, you might want to check http://www.mysn.co.uk/
It’s a medium sized german company offering a wide range of costumizeable laptops with excellent maintainability and they’re known for great customer support. Got my own machine there 2 3/4 years ago (payed 1.250 €) and it’s still running well (including GW2 on high settings with no fps issues, thanks to an i7).
Though I have to admit, I don’t know how well they handle orders from foreign countries, so you might want to send them an email with all your questions before ordering right away.

YOu did not clarify in your OP as to WHY you need a laptop? Yes its good for moving around and you can get powerful laptops but realistically you are looking at a 40% difference in price between a desktop and a laptop for the same performance. I have suggested many builds here over time and it always come down to the same thing.

A desktop is 99% of the time the better option even if you think it inconveniences you.

Looking at Gw you need a very high power core of a cpu as it does not utilize it all the cores as well a it should. laptops fail at this pretty badly Even the I7 one will not give you as much FPS as you require from it and with the GPu running you will get loads of heat that ultimately leads to more problems if you do not have a proper cooler in place. I have 2 mates with alienware laptops and both of them have to use proper laptop coolers to keep their machine at a reasonable temperature level. At this reasonable temperature they can rewarm coffee of even warm up cold meals with the escaping air at the back.

I will look at a few options and link them for laptop as that is what you asked but please send me a PM if you want me to suggest desktop parts as well.

My friends R30 000 alienware ( im from RSA ) Gets less fps than my sisters R10 000 amd Setup.

Ok So i went through Newegg . Amazon Aria pc overclockers uk and Then the best solution i found that is pushing your budget is

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/vortexIV-17/

I then changed their default specs.

I added a 128GB SSD samsung 850 EVo . ( Changes load times from 1 map to another in gw to under 10 seconds and travel within a map instant )
I beefed the GPU up from 970m to a 980M
The Cpu is a I7 4610m taht runs at 3Ghz

I also added 1 × 8GB kinsgton hyper X chip
I added a Death adder mouse as I assumed you didn’t have one
As well as a Coolermaster Ergo stand III

This brought your price to a total of £1,256.67 ex VAT

This unit is pretty powerful and you should see 40-60 fps in high populated areas on relatively high graphics.

Ok so had a quick look at building up a descent desktop for your budget. I then built up one that came in at just under 1500 GBP . This machine will run taht laptop into the ground. It would beat it like a ginger stepson .

Here is the link to that spec. I even included a 144Hz gaming monitor into the build with a gaming mouse and cooler for the I7. This is a monster of a rig .
