getting armor
…and please forgive my typos, I hit post by accident before I could “proofread” that
Hi there Brtiva, glad to know your enjoying the game, hopefully you find yourself trying and enjoying the other parts of the game at some point, they are quite a bit of fun and I personally think your missing out
. That being said, there is nothing wrong with doing what your doing, so if that is what you want to do, awesome
.
There are a few ways of obtaining level 80 armor that I know of (includes all rarities (normal, fine (blue), masterwork (green), rare (yellow), exotic (orange/gold)). They can be: dropped by enemies as loot, crafted from the associated crafting profession, obtained for dungeon tokens from dungeons, obtained for badges of honour from pvp, and of course bought from other players on the trading post (usually for not an excessive amount of money).
*Note that you can also get level 80 masterwork armor from karma vendors. Orr regions also have karma vendors that sell level 80 exotic armor.
Cheers,
Berk
The good news is that you can obtain the top level of exotic gear through several means, including crafting, buying off the tp, and from karma vendors in Cursed Shores, so you won’t have to group up or do dungeons to get that gear.
The only thing you can’t currently get in the open world are the ascended rings and backpieces, those are only available in the Fractals dungeon. Fortunately that’s going to change next week with the January update where you can work toward those just by doing dailies and monthlies.
Have fun!
You need to do the chain-events in Orr to retake the various temples of the gods. Once you’ve completed the events, a Karma vendor becomes available who sells you maxed level 80 gear for 42,000 karma a piece.
wow thanks for your replies
I am happy to hear I can get gear through several paths!
In this other game, I am under constant pressure to do group quests of all sorts to get token type things, to get gear. It is tedious, slow, and really like having another job. Not relaxing and fun anymore. I have basically stopped playing it. Of course, all the griefing is even more of a problem ( this alone really ended the game for me).
A shame as I spent a long time getting a charatcer to level cap and have a few alts…but it is just work now. You are locked into a set course or stuck where you are, and they’re upping the level cap, and making a new gear grind. Typical for MMOs maybe…but really am hoping GW2 takes a different path.
I wanna play for fun, not play to get the gear ( which I need to play the content anyway; a wierd sorta paradox that irks me). I want the gear so I CAN play. I don’t wanna be “blackmailed” into running content I don’t like just to have gear.
Time is a factor too. I play when I can for as long as I can but that varies, and these long ardurous dungeon typ things don’t fit for me at all.
I’d enjoy doing these events and hearts things with a friend/friends, but people seem to run off and do thier own thing..and race to max level/sufficient level to do the dungeon type stuff.
So, the game is much more to my liking so far but still it has been hard to find a friend in world ( which would really make this fun!)
I want to level up for added abilities and nicer looking armor ( my necro in particular I am not pleased with when it comes to gear) but at the same time want enjoy the process.
Probably, I am not gonna be doing other activities than what I have mentioned. I have done “dungeon” type quests in another game and find them very irritating and they also seem to make many people ( who perhaps are the type who are already so inclined) behave rudely. I am nice to everybody and have 0 tolerance for jerks ( so, ok, I am not nice to jerks…but I am not disrespectful to them either
)
And PVP type activities I have less than 0 interest in hehehehe
I think the lack of having a friend will limit me severely, as some things even in open world are too much solo. I have been soloing veterans easily on my thief and necro…but I can see there are things (even in my realm of interest)that will not be done solo.
So I would like to have a friend. I was invited to a guild and joined…but thier interest is race to 80 and do fractals etc. They have little interest in anything else. Nice people but really not my style. On Anvil Rock server, btw.
Hmm, perhaps you should look into this group/guild.
They are a cross server guild that focuses on acting as a method to find players to talk to and play with. I believe many in it enjoy casual pve, it is more of a social gathering and helping guild than anything else (though I am not a member so I can’t say for certain). Might want to give them a look.
Cheers,
Berk
