glider control primer needed!
The only controls are to press your jump key (space bar by default) while in the air to start gliding, use your movement keys (arrow keys, wsad, etc.) to turn, and use your jump key again to stop gliding. You won’t really be able to make tight turns at all, but you’ll be able to use lean techniques (lean forward to go faster/back to slow down) once you unlock the Lean Techniques mastery.
I mouse move, so I steer by wiggling the mouse right and left. Though I’ve found my mouse strafe/backpeddle buttons are harder to use while also steering the glider, so I keep W for going faster and S for stalling downwards and I don’t worry about trying to side-slip. (You get those abilities with Lean Techniques as Rose says).
Though I think you can do sharp turns, same way you do on the ground — spin the camera to the direction you want to go and then press both mouse buttons to move that direction. It worked when I was following a friend along updrafts to the top of the Great Tree, there was a point where we had to glide forward out of kitten but do an immediate u-turn to catch an updraft. But I do it all so instinctively that I can’t be sure I’m sharp turning.
hi, many thanks for suggestions and help. key A and key D are used to turn right or left in flight.Lol, I was trying to turn with keys Q and key E. Also a helpful hint to help other players-mastery in advanced gliding does not mean you get to glide indefinitely -You do glide a little further but you do not stay up!. I took this mastery in hopes I can glide and explore the map.I now wish I had taken my mastery points for poison resistance instead.Again thanks for your helpful answers!!
Advanced gliding does let you continue gliding, though of course you still move downwards some. If you’re leaning forward or back (with W or S) then yes, you will lose endurance for the lean techniques. Let them go, and your endurance will regenerate.
