guild emblem vs. transmutating a precursor
bump.
Does anyone know the answer? Is using a guild weapon on a precursor the same as transmutating a precursor where I can’t use it anymore to craft the legendary?
That seems a bit unusual since it means you are getting a precursor just for the stats …
A very expensive way to get those stats.
I would assume the answer is yes since when you open up the forge with a transmuted item it shows up as the base item that provides the stats. Which is also why going the other way is a problem.
haha no I’m asking because I used the guild staff on my precursor without realizing that transmutating a precursor basically makes it useless. I was hoping guild emblems might be different from using a transmutation stone but I guess not.
Sigh whatever, gave me the final push to stop playing gw2 hehe so I guess I should be thankful :P. Thanks for your answer!
Oops, I meant “Yes you will still be able to use it as a precursor” not "yes it will no longer be recognized’. That was a bad mix up.
Haha well I just asked in LA and apparently it will not be recognized if you change it in anyway.
IT’s sad for me I guess because I was always told transmutation just changes the skin. Guess that’s not the whole truth at all. Lots of wasted effort on my part, just glad that I won’t be wasting more of my time on this game trying to get the legendary haha. Thanks again once for your help :P

well, then you were tricked. transmuting or applying skin destroys both items and create new one.

yes if you do that the precursor is lost forever.
