Hi,
Is www.gw2db.com considered a safe site by Anet and the community?
Only i have just had a malicious java script attack from there which was blocked by Norton.
Have been to the site before without problems.
Is this site considered safe?

Use noscript and adblock plus and only allow the actual website scripts to run and not the externally hosted ones.

I don’t know about gw2db, but I’ve used Wowhead for years and never had a problem, so you might want to try guildhead… same people made wowhead.

It is part of the Curse network, so it is safe.

I dissagree, though I know what you mean. The people managing this site are ok and with the best intentions. But Curse-websites has been attacked by hackers where login-details have been stolen. This risk however is everyhwere when you use outside sources. So use it if you like it, but never loging there with an emailadress and password linked to you GW-account but use a separate emailadress and a different password. So if they get hacked again, the hacker doesn’t know your account details for the game.

I prefer guildhead.com. I think both are as safe as any other mainstream site out there as long as you don’t use the same credentials to log in there as you do to log in your games. If you’re just going there without logging in, I use both frequently and haven’t seen any evidence that someone is trying to compromise my security and I have my machine locked down pretty tight.

Keep your operating system, browser, and browser plug-ins (flash, javascript, et. al) patched, don’t have admin rights on your every day account and the risk is pretty low.

I know for a fact that the gold sellers have harvested e-mail addresses from Curse, so don’t think because a site is well known and extensive that you don’t have to take steps to protect yourself. On the contrary, larger sites are more attractive targets. I use unique e-mail addresses for every single site I have to register for, so I know exactly where the spammers got a particular e-mail address.
