Guild Wars 2

hey guys i used to play guild wars yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaars ago and enjoyed it , and so recently got gw2 and am enjoying it so far.

one of the things i have come across is accessing the hall of monuments, so i have linked my accounts and visited it with 1 of my characters and there is nothing there to collect….

i went onto the rewards calulator and it only finds 1 of my characters, the one im currently using it just tells me to check my spelling and doesnt find him….

so thats the first issue im experiencing, the second issue or question rather is… i only ever played the first guild wars and none of the expansions, i have just redownloaded it and am wondering….. can you earn the hall of monuments just by playing the first games campaign, as if i search one of my characters it shows some unlocks, so im presuming you can, if you can earn points just by playing the first campaign or game is it possible to earn the 30 points, as i really want the black widow for my ranger…

any help would be appreciated

Well to get any thing in gw2 you will have to buy the Eye of the North expansion and get to the hall of monuments in gw1. You can definitely get quite a few points and rewards with just prophecies (the first campaign) and Eye of the North, but you’ll be hard pressed to get up to 30. Keep in mind the rewards are all essentially just skins, so it’s only worth getting them if you happen to really, really like the skins offered.

Basically yep. The Hall of Monuments was added in eye of the north, and to get points for it you have to actually go there and place them in the niches. Actually, the structure you go to in GW2 is a ruined version of the same structure in Eye of the North where the hall of monuments was, and the NPC you talk to is the ghost of the one that was there as well.

BTW, there’s still an use for the HoM portal… if you’re far south in the map (Orr, for example) and need to go north (frostgorge sound, for example), since the HoM is located in the shiverpeaks it’s cheaper to teleport there first and then WP to where you’re going than to just WP.

ah right, thanks for that makes sense, shame about not having access to it though unless you have eye of the north, i know you can get the GOTY edition dirt cheap but i wouldnt put the time needed into it just for the unlocks, shame you cant trade off though and send people skins or whatever, but yeah will be making use of the portal trick thanks

You access the Hall of Monuments very early in the Eye of the North storyline. In fact, it is in the middle of the first explorable zone of the expansion. So if you acquire the Eye of the North expansion, all you will need is about 15 minutes to unlock the Hall of Monuments.

(You will need to finish the Eye of the North storyline in order to be able to fully upgrade the Hall of Monuments, but in its most basic form, you will still be able to dedicate all your maxed titles in the Monument to Honor.)
