havent played since launch
Alot classes looks the same, but feels different. I suggest trying out more classes until you find one you enjoy. Personally i love necro, because of tons of aoe. Also, necro plays alot with conditions.
Ranger has been available since launch. And my main is a ranger, so I’d love to help you out and answer any questions if you decide to play it

Ranger and Necromancer.
More than that, ranger was one of the earliest professions announced.
A lot of classes can play quite similarly, or very differently, depending on how you play them. I recommend looking at the professions section of the forum for any profession which interests you to get some ideas of what you can do with it.

All class are the same starting out, it’s not until your character is level 50th that you notice the difference, then it’s reaching level 80 and then refining/re-defining your character skill sets to match your play style and lastly finding the right gear to maximize your skills.

I disagree with this person. Most classes may look the same starting out, but even from level 10-20 on you can tell how different they are.
All classes look the same when you are fighting a simple lv 10 mob, or one of the loot-pinatas known as World Bosses where the only thing you need to do is stand still and autoattack. Play PvP for more than 5 minutes and come back, tell me if Guardians play the same as Engineers.
With that being out of the way, no substantial changes have been made to how the classes play (rightly so, since the system is working perfectly), but there’ve been loads of balance changes. Your opinion may or may not change but why not giving it a try.

Another troll thread… classes all the same? Have you even played all of them?
