I want to be able to fight in a zerg in WvW with no lag and highest graphics. What computer do I need. I want the computer to be as cheap as possible. Thank you.

Unfortunately even the some of the highest spec units (around $1500) will still experience some lag, mainly culling issues, in WvW. This game is very CPU intensive.

If you can build the computer, speccing your own parts, you could probably make a machine around $1000 to satisfy what you want. If you can’t and you have to buy pre-built, you’re most likely looking around $1300/1400

RIP in peace Robert

No lag and highest graphics will not come cheaply, and this isn’t even at WvWvW. I’m actually doing well with my AMD CPU and Radeon GFX – my lag is more to do with my slow internet connection than my computer specs, and that’s something that you’ll have to consider if you’re in Australia/New Zealand as the internet on this side of the world is pretty abysmal – so you don’t need Intel and NVIDIA.

My estimate is around $1500 to build from scratch (but I’m in NZ so it might be different over there). The cheapest case you can get with built-in fans is maybe $100. 650W PSU $170~200. AMD 8-core CPU $250~300. A high-end graphics card will cost you between $350~1000. 32GB of RAM is around $360~400. Motherboard $150. Cheapest DVD drive since you won’t need it for GW2 is around $40. 120GB SSD is around $150. Normal keyboard and mouse is probably $20. If you want a gaming keyboard, it will be around $150, and a gaming mouse is between $80~100.

Ouch! Hmm might have to tone down my expectations a bit. I don’t think the wife would bless off on me spending that much right now.

Sooo… I have it set on highest graphics and it does awesome in PvE and very well in most high-action areas of WvW, but the frame rate does drop to a low of 15 fps in ginormous sieges.
I have a 6 core, 3.33 GHz, Radeon HD 5870, PCIe SSD, 32GB RAM, Mac Pro, 27" Apple display (2560×1440)
it’s overkill for video games, looks B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. and cost me around $5,000.

build it be cheaper.
mine cost me $700
i get 60fps cause i put limit to it. why run more than that.
its i7 3770 cost 300
with amd 6950…it enough for any thing. no need to go for 7900s b/c price vs performance is not worth it.
got phantom case(love it)~110
and all the other stuff. total came to be around $725-750.

all the stuff i got was on sale. love it. runs anything and everything. i did not need amd graphics cause i7 can run gw2 top setting at 40 fps but why use internal.
