how do sigils work o shields?
stats on weapons only work on the atacks of that specifick weapon.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!

According to the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil it does not matter what weapon you have the sigil on, however if you look at sigil of accuracy, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Accuracy
they do not stack at all, so using more than 1 is a waste.

Interesting, I was aware that the bonus does not show up on the character stats screen. But was unaware of the non stacking portion.
However, for example something like Sigil of Air, chance to cause lightning strike dmg, will work on either weapon. So you have Accuracy on your mainhand for extra crit on those attacks, and you put sigil of air on your shield, your mainhand will proc the lightning dmg. Stacking two sigls of air does work, but it’s not a straight increase like two 30% chances does not equal 60% chance, but they do stack.

You can do the reverse as well. Air on your MH and Accuracy on your OH. It makes no difference.
I don’t understand why people (not you, the guy below the OP) believe that sigils are weapon-specific. It boggles my mind since tons of posts prove that is incorrect in every thread asking about it.

and is very easy to test in heart of the mist too :P put a chance to bleed on crit on your main hand using a skill from your mainhand tht dont bleed itself and see there getting some bleeds on the golem you bash on (unless you have 0 crit ofc :P)

They do stack, just know they share a cooldown, so there’s no way to get back-to-back lightning strikes. The same applies to any other cooldown based sigil. You will get a more reliable proc out of it by stacking them but you can never increase it’s frequency due to the global cooldown on them unfortunately. That’s why it’s better not to use 2 cooldown based ones. What you mentioned about 1 air, 1 accuracy would work great though because the accuracy one is a passive.
