The character select screen will say the exact % each character has completed of World Exploration. Bottom left hand corner you can see in the screenshots below one toon is 100% and another is 62%.

true, but you don’t need to explore every area to complete world exploration. Most of the jumping puzzles in the game are unmarked and open up a discover able area. I was initially confused when I got to 100% but like some areas were 174/176 or something like that.

I think the OP is talking about the specific DISCOVERY of the areas of the map. You can get world completion and not discover every area as some don’t actually display on the map or are “secret.”

The only way I know how to do this is to look at the achievements themselves. (There’s an achievement specifically for discovering every area of a map)

Oh you mean those areas. No there isn’t a tracker for other toons for those bits beyond the account wide achievement which wont help you with new alts.

I keep a spreadsheet of which characters have completed what maps.

Log in to each character, have GW2 and an spreadsheet both windowed and hover your mouse over each map to see how much completion you have in each.

It comes in very handy- for me, some maps are much more lucrative to explore over and over. For example, some people farm cities for transmutation charges, but I like to farm 60+ maps for the exotic gear and some mid-range maps for the materials I gather alone the way.

I only bother to update the spreadsheet if I have either 100%-ed an area, or say if I had run around it collecting waypoints for example. It’s useful to have conditional formatting to highlight almost completed maps or ones that are 100%. If you’re doing a lot of map/world completion, I find it really helps with the sense of completion and progress.

There are exploration achievements (not tied to world completion) that are for each area. Like Kryta explorer and such. These have the areas you need to unlock / discover in about 4 zones per region.

This is what Im talking about. Im not talking about the specifics like skill points, vistas… I know I’m already 100% but for the individual named areas to discover on the map.

Hmm

Have you tried turning the content guide on? It’s under the graphical options (I think): https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Graphical_user_interface#Content_guide

I think it will show where a nearby unexplored area is, including things that don’t have “map points” on it. This is pretty handy if you want to find secret places like Griffonhook Run.

If you’re missing some areas for the Explorer title, check out the “Commonly Missed Areas” on the wiki: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer)

I think a lot of people are missing the point that the achievements are account-wide, so once you’ve completed that region on one character they will not help you track your progress with others.

I think your only option will be to check manually. But since there are only a few areas that don’t have any vistas, POI’s or anything else that adds to map completion you could use your map completion to track most areas and then make a list of the ‘empty’ areas to check manually.

Id be surprised if there wasn’t an addon someone created for this and/or amongst other similar things.

This is the way. You’d have to take every character to every map to actually find out if they have unexplored areas, but if they do, an icon of a walking figure will appear on your minimap which you can follow to reach the area.

I’d be surprised if there was.

Anet do not allow addons in the conventional sense so there are very, very few of them and the ones that do exist are extremely limited, because they’re not allowed to interact with the game directly.

They’re basically overlays that show things like the world boss timings.
