It is only possible to upgrade materials into a higher tier.
If you specifically need two cores and you have a lodestone, sell the lodestone on the trading post and use the money to buy the cores.
is it possible to take a lodestone and reduce it down to 2 cores? or something along those lines. not ascended material. just normal stuff…
