I find that when I salvage low level rares I’m getting no essence of luck. What level does the item req have to be before it will return Essence of Luck?

It’s more luck than the actual item level. Yes I know some people can probably give you a calculation of specific Items that return essences of luck etc. but out of experience, you can get essence of luck from a lvl 0 item, as well as from a level 80 item, or you can get no essence for any of the items if you’re unlucky. It defiantly takes more than 3 – 5 items before you get a return of essences for the most part and the quality of your salvage kit matters too.

The type of salvage kit you use does not effect the amount of essence of luck you get. A rough salvage kit works just as well as a Black Lion one for this purpose. Any fine or masterwork gear will have a chance for it. No level is specified. I have gotten essences from low level gear.

Which is why I use crudes on blues and basic on greens (on the off chance I get a good rune/sigil).

This strikes me as odd. I used a basic salvage kit on about 20 rare items with an item req of 46 – 53 and didn’t receive a single essence of luck. Considering how many I have been getting from other items it made me wonder if there was a minimum level.

It’s only fine and masterwork, per wiki, not rare.
