None requires button mashing.
However, since the thief has no weapon cool downs, you could theoretically button smash for 20 secs, and wait another 25 seconds before smashing again.
And heck, why not remove auto-casting from skill 1 so you can mash that as well?

As for the science, it may be negative. However, do not forget
The thing that there is a scientific side in all the one.
The important one is true. Of me the ruler of my fate, and me also the commander of my soul.

i already do that, is just that i cannot stand the long cooldowns on skills. so i asked for professions that don’t have similar issues in certain sets.

Sounds like elementalist and engineer would be your choice of profession. Both of them have multiple sets of skills to switch to in mid-combat, as long as you can manage your skills wisely, you will not have any skill downtime, however, they’re the hardest professions to learn, so if you think you can handle a challenge, be sure to try them.

I’d have to second that statement on elementalists. Far more keys pressed in the same amount of time as all of my other charas.

This, there shouldn’t be moment when you’re not activating skills or switching attunements in the case of Elementalist. And I’ve heard engineer can be compared to playing the piano…

Uriel Asther ~ Warrior | Kaya Lereau ~ Elementalist | Natalie Fox ~ Thief
Skye Eterna ~ Mesmer | Arya Slade ~ Charrdian | Kiera Thine ~ Ranger
Oceanic ~ [LOD] [Noob]

Playing classical piano, or ragtime? ^.^

Engineer and Mesmer are like playing Organ keyboards.

I second the elementalist/engis suggestion. Altough I don’t have much PvE experience on my engi tough I’d say that I can’t imagine much mashing going on.

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

I use staff and GS with my mes and swap back and forth all the time. Plus I end up running around kiting the bigger mobs. Pretty button mashy to me.

@gestankfaust: same weapon sets as yours, still when your phantasms are up and mob is not targeting you, your work is really just waiting for CDs. Not normal mobs, think to dungeons where a fight (especially bosses) can last for a loong time.

Ranger. Get a sbow, turn off auto-attack, and mash that #1 until the print wears off.

But seriously, ele or engineer. I don’t have experience with engineer, but ele requires a lot of attuenment swapping to get the most out of the profession, it’s like have 4 weapons you can swap too.

RIP in peace Robert

As my thief is my main and my elementalist is my alt, I can say if you prefer mashing one button that isn’t an auto-attack, the thief is where its at. If you prefer mashing a lot of keys, then elementalist is it since you have 20 skills to rotate between, plus some more if you grab all the conjures.

I’ll second the engineer.

Between kits, turrets, toolbelts, picking up turrets, dropping the kit to fire a weapon, equipping the kit again, overloading the turrets…

Yeah, he has a lot of buttons. Probably my favorite alt.
