l2p or gimped due to computer?
10 FPS is definitely bad for spvp, but i would say it is both really, you said you were good in gw1… well i havent played a lot of pvp in gw1 true, but the amount i ahve played is easy to tell that they are VERY FAR apart in how to play them, so doubt many if any playing ability you had there transfer over very well in gw2. So yeah i would say both though mostly l2p, as you can usually learn to play around a bad fps to a certain degree, though you never be a top player without at least 30+ preferably 60+
its true the more you no about one game the harder it is to play anouther, if your expecting it to be some what simoler
Hell I was crazy good at Halo2 ((yes i know)) but when so good infact that when Halo 3 came along and it didnt work like halo 2 ((other than your standerd FPS staple’s)) that i sucked!
i didnt try to play halo3 as if it was its own game I tryed to play it as if it was Halo2.
but yeah 10 FPS isnt helping.
time to upgrade son!
8 vs 8 hotjoins tend to be less skill-based and more of a zergfest. Try 5 vs 5 and see how you do. Also your FPS are definitely too low, but I’m sure you can improve in skills/build. More information would be helpful as it’s hard to determine what your problem might be.

If you want to be good at PvP and your FPS is keeping you down, play on lowest and suck it up. Pretty graphics or smooth frames.
I would say even in a non competative pvp game like GW2, 10 fps just isnt enough..it will be affecting ur performance. 20-30 FPS is fine for GW2 and games similar (nearly all MMORPG’s) as higher fps will give next to 0 increase in ur personal performance. This type of game isnt accurate or fast paced enough to benefit from FPS above 30.
So i would say its both a L2P and a FPS issue, more likely a FPS issue if ur getting killed by invisible players.
60+ FPS isnt needed atall in this type of game, its only needed in competative pvp games .. those that can be considered e-sports.For example FPS games, RTS games, and Fighting games. Racing games also requir good smooth FPS at 60 or above for best performance.

Those will help you determine whether you need to l2p or if you just need a new graphics card.

Those measure your internet connection, not graphics card performance.
As others have said, 10 fps is going to hurt you. Try dropping the graphics settings to the bare minimum, and maybe drop the resolution and run in windowed mode in hopes of better performance.
Otherwise, upgrading your GPU will probably be the best option.

As far as FPS, I’ve got an unholy speced pc being made. Just won’t be ready for a month -.-
I will however try looking at it as its own game instead of gw1. It is just habitual.
Also, this laptop is already playing on bare minimum. lol… But once I get my i7 and dual 680m slis (Bye bye tax monies.) I hope to see a significant improvement in my scoring. (After I stop looking at it as gw1)
Thanks everyone for your input.
If ur going dual 680’s in a month ..u might wanna think again and hang on for nvidia 700 series which is expected somtimes around end of march begining of april. Apparently the 780 will be using the new GK110 chip and ‘could’ have around 85% the power of a 690, meaning 2 780’s would obliterate 2x 680’s.
If u dont wanna wait u could just buy a cheap single card for the time being.
I made my rig in my sig and re-used my old graphics card since im waiting on the 780 …i built it in Nov 2012 so i’ve been waiting a while but am perfectly happy with its perferomance whislt i wait.

I already ordered it, lol. Went with deferred delivery though. However, the option to upgrade exists despite it being a laptop. But the 680s should suffice for my current needs, thanks for that heads up though. (high power laptop was required for more than gaming)
And I never mentioned FPS because EVERYONE else did, it should have been pretty obvious that was also hampering his performance, but if your connection sucks you will suck at pvp regardless of computer performance due to the latency of your commands getting to the server and the result getting back to you.
Just because you have broadband doesn’t mean you have a good connection.
