hi everyone,

yesterday ive decided to increas my leather crafting skill by… of course crafting^^
i was level 70 with a skill of 40 (somewhat) and some hours later i was level 79 with a skill of 300

in total ive spent approximate 2.50 gold on different mats but i also selled many things ive created and with this i actually spent something about 1g and 20s…

it was pretty funny watching the exp-bar rising higher and higher!
somehow it felt kinda like cheating but hey its part of the game so what!? :P

so, if some of you still think that waiting till max lvl to skill the professions is way better because you have more time or whatever, then i have to tell you that you will lose a huuuuuuge bonus they’ve implemented to reward your crafting experience!!!

That is what i really love in GW2 crafting too.The leveling from it is insane and i think it’s awesome:)

It’s actually worth taking time to craft in this game.. in most other games, it just costs loads of money and the craftables are sub-par.. Here you have more initiative to craft and not let it wait as a necessary evil, for when you’re max level.. Love it

Didn’t notice it at first though.. was watching TV while crafting and wasn’t really watching the numbers on the screen, when I closed down the crafting dialog, I was kinda surprised.. Thought it was an exploit at first, lol..

Kind of thinking they should calm down the amount of XP rewarded from doing discoveries. I went from 72 to 80 in about an hour and a half bringing my leather working from 320 to 400. Not sure its necessary to award 32000 times 2 xp for a single discovery.

Leveling from crafting is uniform right to 80, you get 10 levels for leveling a craft from 1-400 regardless if you’re level 1 or level 70. I used it on my alt to get from 60 to 80 lol, not for any reason in particular, mostly because I just like being 80.

i really like that you get rewarded for pretty much everything youre doing in this game
and that you actually still need the exp points after youre 80 already

on my alt ill make the first 10 or 20 lvl just by skilling my profession… i guess i start with cooking because ive farmend maaaany many mats already

Are there 8 craft skills, and if so (and assuming I had the funds) could I level from 1 to 80 without ever leaving my home city?

i guess one could do that but whats with all the mats you need for this?

Yes, actually the devs have explicitly stated this is possible, and people have done it. You would need to have other characters to feed you the materials, however, or at least have the funds to purchase the materials.

Edit: on my second 80 I took this route, partially, and specifically leveled two craftskills to 400 before hitting the level cap. Between all the materials I had gathered on that and other characters, there was little I had to purchase, and I vendored almost everything I crafted (trading post values being so low). I can’t say I came out ahead in that regard, but probably was down less than 1g in the end.

do you know how many level youve made through crafting two profession to skill 400?
im courious because ill do the same with my second character
