so i dont have a magic class leveled, and my necro and ele just hit 50, which should i take to 80?

i find the constant spell combos of ele to be a blast, but find how glassy it is to be a huge turn off.

on the flipside, i feel like an m1 abrams on necro, handling and dealing out constant pain, which is a major plus, yet the gameplay is rather uninspiring.

what do you find more fun and why should i 80 it?

Fun is completely subjective so I can’t help you there.

Ele is amazing and you can almost never have too many.
Necro is a jack of a few trades and outclassed by lots of other classes.

I personally like necro more than ele, but I don’t feel comfortable with glassy classes in general (ele and thief were my last 2 class at lvl 80).

I also like the necro at WvW, it is very good at roaming and also good in zerg fights, necro isn’t just not good at dungeons, that is where eles shiny.

If you’re a PvE player, go Ele. They’re a blast in dungeons (pun….partially intended) and quite mobile, making them good for exploration. The glassiness can help improve your skills, and after a while you hardly even notice it.

Necro is generally an uninspiring class that’s probably better suited for PvP and WvW. Easy to spread devastating conditions against enemy zergs, and ‘fearing’ people off cliffs in Edge of the Mists is pretty fun. High survivability indeed, but even with a full DPS build it never really feels like you’re doing much.

I like both necro and ele. I have 1 of each at 80, and a baby necro in the works.

I think ele is harder to learn and play well. It has the least hp of the 3 light classes, and can be very squishy.

Necro is definitely a red-headed step child, along with Ranger, at the moment. Although I don’t have an issue with either in my groups. Its definitely more tanky, and I love running around with my own swarm of minions.

I can’t really say that you should do ‘x’ over ‘y’ because I enjoy both classes. I love to play them, and which I choose really just depends on what mood I’m in. Honestly, I would say do both. Play one for a bit, if you get bored play the other. They have distinctly different styles.

Ele if you are more PvE oriented especially with group content and dungeons. But hey, check out Mesmer too. They are a ton of fun, at least to me, and very versatile in all aspects of the game.

Depends. If you are looking to pug a few dungeons, roll ele as necromancers are often kicked.

im a warrior by trade, i was just looking for something “different” with decent damage

Necro is a lot more fun to me, and at least in open world PVE, much more efficient.

But it’s really not hard to take characters from 50 to 80. Do both!
