I would just like to know from the more experienced elementalist players out there as to which statset will put out the most dps.

I was looking into either Pow/prec/crit dmg% or pow/prec/cond dmg. while the statset with the condition dmg would boast a little more dmg in the earth attunement and some of the burning effects from the fire attunement , and the precision being the main stat in that statset would allow for the highest crit chance(I am unsure of the magnitude that crit chance has in this game on the end result to one’s dps, in everquest2 it was huge) the power being the main stat on the first statset would boast the most base dmg as well as higher crit dmg from the extra crit dmg on that set.

For those wondering, I personally use all attunements, I like to use them all within a fight unless it’s a short fight, they all have their bonuses and it allows me 0 wait time between cooldowns.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section but this seemed like the right one, just need to know if pow/prec/crit dmg% or pow/prec/cond dmg is best for dmg on ele.
I usually use daggers or staff on my ele.

There will be good builds for both and situations where damage might be higher with one than the other. For example, a heavy condition damage build can loose some of its effectiveness in big battles where lots of other players are applying condition too.

You might be best to post this in the ele sub-forum, you may find that this topic has already come up or had specific builds linked.

It does vary depending on what you are trying to do. Many people agree that Knight’s gear is the best way to go for armor. I’m currently using gear with a nice spread between toughness, vitality, power, and healing power. This is mostly due to the fact that I like to not die.

That is a good idea too. A dead person deals no damage regardless of what their stats might imply.

Hmm, well i’m far from rich in this game and I do have my share of difficulties getting my gold up there, so I was mostly looking at what would be best dmg for my first set, I’m aiming for what I think people call “glass canon” maximum dmg die instantly, lol, seems stupid I know but I suppose I’m still a little stuck to the “trinity” mindset that the dps should not be tanking(especially mages)

Oh and I actually made this particular thread because I really don’t want to make a mistake when buying my first ascended jewelry, cuz there’s no refund on laurels.

Well there is “dealing the most damage possible in any situation” and then there “oooooh look at all those big numbers”. If it’s for the big numbers then go for berserker. It may or may not give you the best damage but the big numbers will make it very easy to convince yourself that it is.

Lol, ya I’m not dense. I know the difference, I want the most possible dmg in any situation, If a dps parser is made for this game I want to be at the top of it.

I’ll not say that’s an invalid approach, but I think this game is really not about pure dps. There probably never will be a parser because dps is only one part of what you need to do for maximum effectiveness. Not dying is much more important than knocking things’ teeth in, for the most part.

That doesn’t mean you don’t want to be able to hurt things, or that you want to find yourself “tanking” (which for me in GW2 usually means “I’m the one running away to kite while my friends do the damage, oh god get it off of me”). I’ve heard that Toughness is one of the aggro lures, so I usually make it my weakest stat.

In the end I think you’ll get the most damage over time (rather than per second) by maintaining survivability and savvy and timely use of your attunements and utilities instead of just trying to pump out the biggest punches.

To my knowledge, there is not parser’s as of yet for this game, which I believe is because dps really is not a caster’s main concern like it often is in other games. On top of that, I’m sad to say, Ele is not the place to be if you want to be the most competitive damage dealer. We excel at flexibility, support, and do reasonable but not great damage. You can spec full power/prec/crit % and hit pretty hard, but you’ll also die to a stiff breeze. If that is truly what you want, I’d say grind out some CoF and get berserker stats.

Well, I’ll start by saying that ele may not be the place to be for dps atm but I can see thieves getting knocked right off the dps pedestal with the nerf hammer any time now(not that it’s what I want but a lot of people are whining about that class)

I think I will look to change my strategy a bit though by going with a mix of stats instead of maxing anything in particular, zerker jewels and toughness/vit/pow armor
