For the life of me i can’t decide on a class. So could someone help? I got it down to Thief,Engineer,Mesmer,Reverent or Warrior. I know still a lot. I plan on mainly pvp but would like to try pve and wvw. so if you guys could tell how those classes are doing maybe a pro’s and con’s. If the stay interesting to play? I like having a learning curve. Would be nice to be able to switch it up play style wise so i don’t get bored. Any help would be amazing. I want to stop thinking and start playing seriously.

I main a engineer and love the diversety it gives you. It is probably the most complex class to play. Theif is good if you know how to play it, expect to die a lot when getting the hang of it. Mesmer is really fun but dont do a lot of damage, but you can help others with quickness and portals. Rev is a cool, but a bit differente as you dont get to choose the utility skills. I recently stated to play my rev more, and its superfun as I dont go down much at all. Warrior is the class I have played least so not really much to say there, just didnt like the stule but I hear they are doing good damage and most ppl really like to play them. Hope you find this somewhat helpful! (Team Engi!)

Honestly the 2 best picks for diversity you listed are between the Engineer and Mesmer. The rest are more or less the same play styles through out their class.

I would say pick one, or maybe both, and get them to level 80 and then work on your play style. As you level you will find that your play style is going to be a lot different then when you are at 50, 65, 70 and then finally at 80. Then you have different game modes to consider too.

Go into each of the professions sub-forums and watch the wvw roaming videos and any pvp videos you find posted there.

Seeing what’s done along with the contextual discussion should give you better information than what anyone can just tell you in abstract type here.

thanks for the reply. But i have already tried all of them at 80. With the 80 boost trial and buy copying builds from metabattle to pvp with. So i was looking more for which ones stay interesting and continue to provide a challenge.

I main an Engineer so I’m biased, but I’d have to say Engineer. Especially since you like a learning curve.

I have an 80 of each prof aside from Mesmer. I’ve taken plenty of breaks to play other professions, but I always come back to Engi. That’s the trick to keeping it fresh. Take a break and play something else for a while when you think you might be getting bored or burned out.

So main that Engi, but don’t completely stop playing or worse delete those other toons.

No profession has much build variety in places it matters (raids, PvP, and to some extent WvW.) The place it doesn’t matter, —open world PvE-- literally anything will work.

Also and more importantly, professions and builds alike get massively buffed or nerfed all the time. Only a short while ago mesmers, the 2nd most fragile profession in the game, were ruining PvP because of their bunkering capabilities. That got nerfed and then eles, the most fragile class in the game took over the role of unkillable bunker. That got nerfed and so on. It’s useless to try to pick a profession based on that.

So I am going to suggest a different route, get really good at one, decent at one or two others, and some understanding of all the rest. Just pick your favorite and don’t try to get too hung up on what the professions can do.
