HI, I’m returning player who has lvl 80 ele. Although I dont have idea how to play her good atm.
Since I got her max level, I am looking for next class to be maxed/enjoy.
I tried almost every class up to 15 or 20 but no other classes fit me at all :/
I love elementalist’s various flashy magic.
I dont like much melee class like necro….I like the class concept though.

So point is, I’m interested in engineer and guardian. None of them got me more motivate to play at the low level.
How are they in high levels on PvE, and WvW?
Are they more tougher than ele?
Just to mention, I couldn’t pass through alone the around level 80 area with my ele. I am that bad skilled player xD
And I will be mostly solo cuz my friends won’t play anymore.

It seems guardian has more tough and less dodge than ele because of its the light field which mobs can’t pass through. Although worrior seems the toughest and deals high number dmg…
But engineer seemed less dodge than ele too. How struggling.
I don’ t know….I will give it a shot for engineer first. Hoping to get pass the silverwaste or somewhat these level 80 areas.

A lot of those depends on the build and to some degree the situation they are in. For example a guardian speccing in Honor would have plenty of dodges.

An Engineer could also keep up vigor relatively easily with Invigorating Speed and #2 on the Elixir Gun

On the other hand a Guardian would have more blocks.

Also light fields do not have anything to do with preventing enemy movement. That is just a feature of certain skills, not all of them generate a light field.

My video gives you an idea of what each classes can do but keep in mind you can build your class anyway you like and play them anyway you prefer.

Weapons give different skills, Traits modify skills and stats suppliment build.
My video only shows you 1 way of playing each class but there are tons of different ways to play. Just give them all a try =)

1. Guardian is generally easier in pve/wvw than engi and is also more welcome in parties.

2. Technically ele is the squishiest class in the game but has mechanics that allow ele to survive. It is one of the more “active” classes and you need to learn the class to some extend to be successful with it.

3. Find new and more friends, join a guild, nobody can/wants to play online games all the time. With more friends, there should always be someone around to play with.

Most ele’s i know have a mesmer alt, don’t ask me why, i don’t play either of them

Guardian’s light field..I meant hammer 5 if i remember correctly though >.<
I didn’t know Guardian has to dodge a lot with one of the spec! It felt easier than my ele on the open world when I tried.
And yes, I tried Mesmer as most of Elementalists did. Fantastic class though :p I might give it a shot again.

I am trying engineer….still doesn’t have the trait that Khisanth told me yet but this is blast for me! :o
Tons of skills, ranged, flashy beautiful flamethrower xD
Also wearing medium armor feels less dodge. Depends on the trait but still….I don’t have to dodge like every second.
If any player who has Elementalist and love its fire magic and variety of skills having trouble deciding other class…I would recommend Engineer to try.
