hey just bought the game today to play on sea of sorrows server with an old gaming buddy is there a way around the full server thing or will the server drop in population at times or is it pointless waiting thanks for the help and happy gaming.

Currently there isn’t a way around it. You can wait until Friday night and the weekend since most people change at that point. Just keep checking.

what a pain been trying for hours wonder if ill ever get on that server or if ill just rage quit only time will tell lols.

The population is based on how many people are logged in at that time. If you can find an off-peak time when it’s not full you will be able to get in. The problem is that SoS has a strong oceanic presence so their population doesn’t dip as much as others at certain time periods. Your best bet is to keep trying at different times on different days or just convince your buddy to jump to another server with you.

My best bet for trying to get into any server is to attempt to do it either very late at night or during early morning. Chances are great that you’ll make it in.

so far been trying since 4am aussie time now its nearly 8am lol

Not great. Not ANY server. I recruited my hubby yesterday after playing for a few months w/ a friend on Fort Aspenwood. It’s been FULL ever since – checking constantly from 8:00pm until 2:00am and again today starting at 10:00am on. So now my choices are change servers to be w/ hubby and lose connection w/ BFF (she has a Guild so she’s not going anywhere) or not be w/ hubby after buying him the game so we could play together.

Well, I guess another suggestion would be to wait until Friday. That’s usually when people start shifting around due to results of WvW matches. Some might migrate off of losing servers to winning servers just so they can be on the winning team; while others might transfer off their own server because of very long queue times.

With free trial weekend event abut to start I imagine the problem is just going to get worse. ALL American servers have been mostly FULL with a handful of HIGH since we began checking last night into wee hours and again starting this morning.

Makes me wonder how are friends going to trial with you if most the servers are full?

There are few lights ahead in this tunnel, and most of them derive from the promised “guesting” feature.
With guesting feature functional, for pve purposes, you won’t have to be on your friend’s realm, you just log in, group invite him, and start the guesting or go be a guest on his server.

This thing actually works already for dungeons, you have to be in the same group, have to be on the same map, and 1 of you should enter a dungeon, and the other will be able to get inside this dungeon as well.
This turns out to be extremely easy if both of you guys are on a multi server guild.
You can both join same guild, form up a group, and go do instances togather.

For now, however, this only works for dungeons, and if by any chance, both of you are on the same overflow server, but don’t count on this method.

Even at 2am its still a fairly large number online and at 10 am that’s when people are nice and awake and starting their days in game. Off peak hours I would say are early in the morning about 4am-8am and around early to mid afternoon 1pm-5pm. That’s just through what I’ve seen on PST time. Of course times will differ depending on time zones.
