After like 5 hours I am lvl 9. I did all heart quest in slyvari zone. I tried going to other zones but I get lost. I did some of the dynamic events too. I don’t have the ingredients to craft. Any advice for me to get pass lvl 15?

I’d go to The Grove and take the portal to the Vigil Keep and try another racial level 1-15 area. Of course you’d still have to find your way out of the other race’s home city, but that is experience too (Points of interest, waypoints, etc…). If these other 1-15 zones are the ones you get lost in, that is okay because the game gives you experience for exploring (even the racial cities, see above). More dynamic events or work on personal story until becomes too difficult. Work on map completion of Caledon Forest (sylvari zone). Ask others you see in game for help. Most players are really friendly and willing to help out.

100% map completion of a zone gives experience bonus. In the process gather from every node you find. Use any XP boosts. For a sylvari complete the grove and caledon forest. Then move onto other zones.

If you are going to sell your drops sell on the Black Lion TP mostly but check to see if trading commission reduces your profit more than just selling to a vender. Also salvaging may be more profitable ’cause the materials can be used in crafting.

If this is your first character you won’t have any crafting materials from your other characters or any money. But as soon as you can pick 2 crafting disciplines and refine all materials gathered. Crafting does level a character very fast.

don’t forget to do a couple of personal story quests, they give a good amount of xp, also don’t let your gear stay too low from your current lvl.

1. So HRTs can pretty much be soloed as soon as you get to the lvl of the HRT. Sometimes it’s better to wait to get to a lvl above if your gear isn’t that great. Same goes for personal story.

2. All basic gear for every 5 lvls can be bought at the local weapon and armor shop. It’s the exact same gear from start. Just lvls up by 5 as you reach those lvls. Crafting gives you XP as well, and you can also make better gear than you can purchase at shops. Crafting also has its own skill level.

3. Skill challenges can usually be soloed.

4. Grab everything on map – waypoints, poi, vista, hrt, skill challenges.

5. After completing the HRT for your level, doing some crafting, grabbing the map stuff, you still might not level up enough to proceed.

In this case, its time to party up, and do random events. Make sure nobody in your party is too far above your lvl because the level down system sucks. Higher lvl players can still be considerably OP for certain regions and events that supposedly level them down. Like to do a random event, calling in a lvl80 can pretty much complete it for you. So you end up getting all the xp and reward for doing barely anything.

It can be really annoying as there’s so many good random events that just need you to party with a few players of similar lvl to complete. Which is where some of the most fun of this game can be.

Go to the Trading Post, search for blue or green gear your level, buy the stuff that has +Power on it.

Do a search for “minor rune of” and buy 4-6 different kinds (depending on if you can wear helm or shoulders at your level) with +10 Power on the first rune. Put those on your armor as you level.

If your weapon doesn’t seem to be very effective at killing, switch weapons. Try shortbow or greatsword for rangers, for example.

The last thing to bear in mind is that the planned leveling speed at the very beginning was about one level per hour or 1.5h, so you may already be doing fine at an average clip.

Explore and learn/enjoy the game, especially when you are new, rather than watching the xp bar like a hawk. The game doesn’t start at 80. There is no need to rush, and your time is probably better spent familiarizing yourself with zones your level so you don’t feel or get lost, not to mention your pets and utility skills.

I never get how people complain about being hard to level, when you are possibly playing the online game with the most easily achievable level cap. Also if you just played 5h you shouldn’t even complain about that, just look around exploring the game and eventually you will get to 80.

Posting multiple threads about the same subject isn’t the way to go either. If you are in such a rush, whatever the reason may be, look for more specific leveling guides. I find them quite often on youtube without even looking for them, so surely there should be quite a few decent ones around.

Gather everything you see. Do full exploration, not just the hearts. Get the POIs and vistas and WPs. Exploration gives great XP, especially early on. Fully explore the Grove. And do your personal story; they give a lot of XP too.

By the time that’s done, you should be level 15. However, if not, do what goodbugs said and take the portal in the Grove to Vigil Keep where other portals are. Go through them into another racial city and explore that city and the 1-15 zone outside of it.

While it’s not necessarily exciting, go to each race city and Lions Arch and clear those areas (Way points, Vistas & Points of Interest….no Hearts in cities). I think that will give you close to 10 Levels of XP.

Use the Wiki maps to assist in getting those cleared.

Certain classes have 25% movement speed trait bonuses which would be useful for moving from one place to another. I would definitely recommend you to grab it as soon as you can. You wouldn’t believe how something diminutive like movement speed can drastically improve your leveling

Ranger – Signet of the Hunt
Thief – Signet of Shadows
Ele – Signet of Air
Necro – Signet of the Locust
Warrior – Warrior’s Sprint ( Trait under the “Discipline” line )
Engineer – Power Shoes ( Trait under the “Inventions” line )

Warrior(Main) | Mesmer | Thief
Jade Quarry (NA)

This is good advice, though you left out the part about completely emptying your guild’s bank. This strategy may or may not pay off handsomely, depending on your guild. In your case, you made off with a bunch of low level runes and potions. SCORE!

I never get how people complain about being hard to level, when you are possibly playing the online game with the most easily achievable level cap. Also if you just played 5h you shouldn’t even complain about that, just look around exploring the game and eventually you will get to 80.

Its maybe simply that we don’t have the leveling progression curve here like in other MMOs, where the low levels go really quick, but the higher the level the longer it takes.
So in other games you are maybe already 10 after 1 hour, while here it takes you 10 hours.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I guess that’s it, people just find it awkward to level slowly at first because they don’t know that on higher levels the time you take to level will still be (roughly) the same, so they think something is amiss since the curve in gw2 is diff from all the other mmo’s.

With this said i noticed that there’s quite a few threads like this one, maybe someone should work on a guide to place as sticky in here to help the newbies out.

Don’t forget about doing as many daily achievments as you can. These yield lots of EXP. If you can get all of them by exploring other areas do it. You can’t go wrong.
