Guild Wars 2

I just bought GW2 and would like to play, but the server I want to have my main character on is full. If I create a character on a different server, is it possible later (when the server is no longer full) to create yet another character on the server I really want to be on?

I ask because when I chose a server that is not full, there was a message that led me to believe that I was choosing a server for all my characters. I’m feeling doubtful about my interpretation of that message, but I want to make sure. Any advice?

The server you choose to be on affects all your characters. You have the option to transfer to another server once per week.

Yes, the server you pick is the server all your characters are on. If you have a particular server you want and it is currently full you have two options.
1. Don’t choose any server now (meaning you can’t continue with creating characters/playing the game) and watch the population on your favoured server. As people start to log off in off-peak hours the population should fall from full to high and you can join.

2. Join any server now and continue with the game. You can switch servers for free once every 7 days so you can keep checking the population of your favoured server and if it drops below full you can move (all you characters, etc will move with you).

3rd option is create a character on whatever server you feel like, get to know people there, and then when it’s available make use of guesting to play with your friends on another server
