Q:
new player with some questions
1. Yes. But if you do want gems, you can trade your gold in to buy them. The gold/gem exchange rate floats.
2. Exploring and doing your personal quest. Everything you do gives XP.
3. You can use gems to transfer to another world or you can delete all your characters and you will be able to pick a new world.
4. You can start doing the first dungeon at 30 and a new one opens up every 10 levels.
1. Yes you can… Gems are only used for cosmetic purposes of convenient items. It’s not a pay-to-win game. Also you can convert gold into Gems that you earn ingame.
2. Why would you want to level up to 80 fast? There should be No reason. The only reason you level up in PvE is because you want to unlock other zones to explore to experience contents you enjoy as well as experiencing your personal story if you are into it.
3. Wait 1 week unfortunately.
4. The Real fun begins at lvl1 and beyond. But if you are speaking about dungoens in general, that starts at lvl30 beyond.
This game has a lot to offer so take your time and enjoy each content you come across. The entire game is endgame. There are no raid-like endgames in GW2 that you may think otherwise from games like WoW.
Good luck
1) Yes. Gems are for cosmetic accessories (town clothes) and things you don’t really “need” but are convenient (bank/bag slots, etc.).
2) Play the game. Leveling does not take long whether you do it through WvW, playing the story, or running dungeons when you reach lvl 35(?).
3) You can change servers for gems if you have characters you want to keep. If you delete all the characters, you can change for free. I’m not sure if the 1-week wait period applies if you just recently created or moved your account’s home server.
4) First dungeon is at level 30 for story mode (realistically you do this once), and 35 for explorable mode. The wiki is your friend

2. The FASTEST way to level is actually doing crafting, however, it will cost you a lot of gold. You could start exploring/doing hearts at the beginner area and then start crafting once you have enough mats/money. I usually save my personal story stuff until I’m level 40, so that the last 40 levels are easy to get.
3. If your character is still in a low level and you don’t care about them too much, you can delete them and transfer to another server for free. It will cost you 1800 gems to transfer, which is a lot of gold.
4. Real fun starts any level as long as you are doing something you like! I loved doing jumping puzzles, so my fun started when I found my first jumping puzzle!
Oh i hate puzzles lol…especially jumping puzzles hehe
