I haven’t played really sense a couple months after release. I needed some help maybe.

I left with my warrior and guardian in full CoF armor and weapons. And full sets of runes. What armor tiers are next? How do I access them?

My warrior had dual axes which at time was very good. Is this still considered good? Also my guardian had 2h sword. Is that still the best for PVE and dungeons?

I will be doing mostly pve. Also what else is there to do in toys game now? Thanks a bunch!

Now there is the ascended gear, it is A LOT of work to craft it, and really expensive (about 60g per piece) and the stats it adds is really small compared to exotic.

Actually axe now is even better than GS for warrior, you may also try axe/mace, check the warrior sub-forum for more details, but your warrior seems to be all right.
GS for guardian is still good, for PvE sword/focus is a great option now, I also recommend checking the guardian sub-forum. [/quote]

GW2 isn’t like most other MMOs (or what I’ve heard about them anyway) in that they don’t regularly add new tiers of gear.

The only one that’s been added since launch is ascended and it’s intentionally designed to be optional unless you’re a hardcore min-maxer or what to do high levels in Fractals of the Mists. It does drop occasionally from certain places but realistically the only option is to craft it, which is a slow and expensive process because it’s supposed to be a long-term goal for hardcore players.

I can’t comment on warrior or guardian builds, I don’t play a warrior and I’m still trying to settle on weapons for my guardian.

So the game is mostly just PvP now? Is there much to even do in the pve aspect now besides getting this ascended gear

The Living Story will start again soon, so new achievements/quests/bosses will be added in PvE.
For now people are only doing Dungeons, Fractals and farming in general for the ascended gear, also working in their WvW Tournament achieves.

I think there’s a lot to do in PvE, but then I seem to have the opposite attitude to most MMO players (having come from playing single-player RPGs and GW1.)

To me getting max level/tier gear is an annoying hindrance to get out the way so I don’t have to worry about it any more and can focus on playing the content. Whereas most MMO players seem to see getting new gear as the entire purpose of PvE and seem confused at the idea of playing something that doesn’t award new stats (or skins).

But either way I’d say it’s a question of what you like doing. If you enjoy exploring the world, doing heart and events and finding all the hidden stuff like jumping puzzles and mini dungeons you can do that. (One of the nice things about this game is you won’t ever out-level any content, you can still go back and play in any area you want.)

If you prefer doing dungeons you can do them and use the tokens to go towards other things (maybe collecting skins, maybe making a legendary, maybe just throwing them in the forge to try and get a valuable item back). If you like challenging dungeons you might want to look into doing Fractals of the Mists.

There’s also the world bosses, most of which are easy but can be quite profitable, or Tequatl and the Triple-headed Wurm if you want something challenging.

And then there’s the Living Story which is going to be starting up again soon (later today actually, with the Festival of the Four Winds). We don’t know when Season 2 will officially start but it’s likely to be soon.

And of course PvP and WvW. The feature patch recently intergrated PvP and PvE rewards – you can now use the same skins in both and earn PvE rewards through PvP.
