perc stat to crit chance.
I should also added. If I have 100%crit chance my ferocity damage bonus would happen all the time yes?
Well, critical chance is built on a sliding scale. The more points you invest into precision, the less worth it that it becomes. Generally I aim for 50% and focus on power. A crit isn’t going to hit hard if you don’t have any power to begin with. On top of that, fury adds a constant 20%, whether you have 10% or 90%, so it’s good to utilize what access to fury you have.
And yes, your ferocity (crit damage) is used every time you crit. But, if the power isn’t there in the first place you’d just be multiplying a lower number. It really is a balancing act to find the most effective gear placement.
And as for myself, I generally don’t worry about which stats I get from my traits. It’s more of a bonus if it adds up nicely. The backbone of your build is in choosing your traits carefully, and arbitrarily throwing points into lines based on stats alone will do you less good in the end. Use your gear to determine your stats.
Cheers. I think my build will have 2300-2400 power around 130ish power lower than zerk
With my ferocity stat at around 200+ I would have to find the exact numbers.
Build 1
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdQQFAEGJtgAdIWRdFVT+cDCwTB-ThBBABYt/o8DgHAQe6AGV9nAuAAnpEkUA6JsC-e
Scholar runes. 69% crit chance and 206% ferocity.
Build 2
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdQQFAEGJtgAdIWRdFVT+cDCwTB-TxBBABQt/AWK/A4BAknOgRV/JgLAwZKBJFgeCrA-e
Ranger runes. Power drops slightly. 77% crit chance. Mini pets acts as a active companion so will have 7% extra damage.
I would like to know how much a boost fury and spotter and a banner would do.
Or would you change my build completely to zerk armour.
My main thief runs Assassin’s build rather than Zerker build at about 80% crit chance – any more than that is a waste if you get the boon Fury (as it gives you +20% Crit Chance)
you just gotta do the math of criticals to realize it isn’t useful to focus on critical chance.
Let’s ignore power and assume base damage of 100 with a critical power of 200% damage.
If you have 0% critical chance 100% of your attacks will do base damage (100), and 0% will do critical damage (200), resulting in an average 100DPS.
If you have 10% critical chance, 90% of your attacks will do base damage (100), and 10% will do critical damage (200), resulting in an average 110DPS (10% increase for 0 to 10 critical chance)
Now, if you have 50% critical chance, 50% of your attacks will do base damage (100), and 50% will do critical damage (200), resulting in an average of 150DPS (50% increase from 0% chance, 36% increase from 10%). You can already see the reduced impact of precision here, as you increased your chance by 40% from the previous example but your dps increased by only 36%.
For the last example let’s do 75% critical chance. 25% of your attacks do 100 damage, and 75% do 200 damage, resulting in 175DPS. you’ve increased precision by 25% since the last example and your dps increased by only 16%.
This is because increasing precision only increases the DPS by reducing the size of your non-critical chance, but your non-criticals represent exponentially less of your DPS as your precision increases.
This becomes even more important when you include power back into the equation, as when you increases your precision you are sacrificing your ability to improve power instead. Power improves DPS output of both criticals AND non-criticals, thus providing a linear increase in power.
This is why you must balance it, and maxing for criticals may seem fancy and nice, but going from 90% criticals (190DPS) to 100% criticals (200DPS) only gives you a DPS boost of about 5%, as you’re doubling the damage of 10% of your previous attacks, which only accounted for 5% of your DPS.
As pointed out above, there are a goodly number of enemies (especially the more powerful ones) that are either totally immune to Crits or are immune to them for some high percentage of the time they are present. In the case of fighting these foes, Power is king and Precision / Ferocity become completely wasted stats.
Beyond that exception (a VERY large one), the maths have already been calculated to death on this subject and Assasin’s ALWAYS comes out on the short end of the DPS stick, but builds that focus on Crit Triggers can certainly benefit from a higher precision as long as it is understood that such builds will be quite ineffective against immune Crit foes.
…..Mini pets acts as a active companion so will have 7% extra damage. …..
Just be prepared to loose this when they fix that glitch w/ mini-pets.

Once you’ve input your build, look at the place where it says Effective Power.
Or
http://jsfiddle.net/GNEFd/10/embedded/result/
And compare Averages.
Edit: At lvl 80, your base precision would be 916 and that gives you a crit chance of 4%. Every 21 points in precision gives you 1% increase in crit chance.
Banner of Precision gives 170 precision I believe. And spotter should be 150 precision.
