hey all new to the game.
Just wanted to ask how when rangers get to use the pets next in line skill? Is it s a level requirement, or is there some way to choose which skill you want to slot?

You know, I never thought about it. Having played SWTOR, I just assumed the pet managed its own skills for the most part.

Ranger Pets possess 4 skills. 3 of them are standard for their family (ursine,drake etc.) and are AI controlled. The fourth skill is special to each subspecies and may be activated by the player (F3). The number of pet skills the player can control does not increase with the level or any other way.
