Yeah this is definately a known problem. I for one run around with the speed buff, but I try to be very aware of others and if I see someone I stop and kill all that is following me.
I am sorry this has been an issue for you, but as long as people never have real life punishment for acting like idiots online these things will never stop.
I’ve just come to learn to be aware of my surroundings more, including other players. I always assume if I see a guy running my way from somewhere solo that he’s pulling and I just run ahead of him until both mobs leash back.

Same here.
It’s just not practical to take the time to kill each and every enemy you pass. In some areas it’s virtually impossible because by the time you’ve taken 2 down the first one has respawned, but even when you can take them out relatively quickly it adds up to a lot of time effectively wasted just trying to get where you’re going.
But if I run past another player, or see one start fighting monsters that are trailing me I’ll stop and fight them before carrying on.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
A couple things:
1) Unless you are fighting things way above your lvl you shouldn’t need to do this careful solo pulling. If you are killing one mob then you should be able to handle a couple adds.
2) If you can’t handle the adds then you can just run away. Stuff follows you for like 30 feet in this game, run for 5 seconds and reset the fight.
I almost did the same thing to an unfortunate soul last night.
I was running out of a cave, being trailed by a group of mobs (-cough- thanks for pulling them flesh golem -cough-) and at the mouth of the cave, there were trees on both sides. I was making my exit by turning right and just as I did, this person dropped down the side of the hill just as the mobs lost aggro on me. I turned around abruptly, but thankfully, the mobs never caught onto him and I saw him running freely to the opposite side of the hill.
Accidents like the one I described above can happen, but it’s those people that don’t stop to help that are the real jerks.
This your first MMO, OP? That’s what known as getting “trained”. It’s a"problem" in most MMO’s. I say “problem” because I’ve seen games that prevent it, and to be quite honest, I’d rather have to deal with the possibility of it happening that play a game that isolates players from each other.
You just have to do what you can to avoid situations where it’s likely to happen, like staying off the beaten paths when you’re fighting.
thanks for the replies all, positive and negative. I’ve learned alot
