I’m a casual player, but I do notice that in the higher zones, everyone is wearing the same type of armor/outfit. Looks pretty basic, like silver plate mail. Is this for magic find?

Maybe your game setting is set to low character models, it turn the skin of everyone into the same standard skin, or maybe your client is taking too long to process the skin, the game loads a standard skin and later load the actual skin the player use.

Magic find isn’t an armor stat – it was at launch but that was changed over a year ago and now it’s account bound and completely independent from your gear.

Even if there was one set that had the best stats that wouldn’t explain everyone looking the same. Transmutation allows you to put any appearance onto your armor, the only limitation is that it has to be the same armor type (you can only put light armor skins onto other light armor etc.). So everyone can choose whatever skins they like totally separately from the stats.

Most likely it’s your graphics settings. Check what the ‘Character Model Quality’ option is set to and if it’s low try turning it up. If not try standing somewhere people stay still for a while – it might just be taking a while to load their real appearances over the basic models.

I had the same when I started to play..then I got a new graphics card and OH BOY..was I mistaken..LOL
