seem to die a little too quickly
It is quite normal, all classes are actually really squishy if you’re just standing still and not doing anything.. There isn’t really any traditional warrior tanking with tons of health and armor.
I can’t tell what you’ve been doing, but as a rule of thumb, never stand still.
At least circle strafe the mobs, which will make you avoid a lot of special attacks and try to dodge often too if you see something coming. Just dodge whenever you can really to buy time for your heal to recharge.
Obviously now that you hit 20 and get access to another utility slot, you may want to put something defensive in there as well.
and don’t be shy about using your heal skill, I know some who have died with it up because they where saving it for some mythically important battle, they cooldown fast enough that you can generally get it off once a fight at least, maybe once every 2 fights if your using the longer cooldown ones.
Beyond that we’d need more info about your skills and such (what weapons, what utils/heal skills your using etc)
It is normal until you get used to the combat. Besides avoid certain “big” attacks, dodging is also useful for putting distance between you and the enemy while you wait for the healing skill to recharge.
This is typical of new players, and warriors in general IMO. Most ppl that play warrior just want to charge in and hit stuff. Warriors can do that and are one of the hardest hitters in the game. But Warriors are not naturally defensive, so you have to learn to dodge, heal, move, and swap between ranged and melee as needed. With all of the classes, it’s not so much about being able to absorb damage, it’s more about not getting hit at all, or mitigating it.
If you like charging in and being able to take a beating, then I’d suggest the guardian.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I’d also suggest some seemingly obvious stuff like ensuring that your gear is repaired, and that you swapping out for better gear as you go (perhaps even buying some at times to get over a lull in the leveling). I’m suggesting it because it happened to me, I kept using not-so-great gear. But yeah, dodging and moving around are definitely a must, you certainly can’t sit still in GW2, unlike other MMOs (I’m told). Good luck, I’d even suggest asking for help from guildmates or even people on the map (a lot of people I’ve stumbled upon are helpful) to figure out where you’re going wrong.
Guild: Gamers With Jobs
Definetly keep both ranged and melee weapons available. I often start out with rifle as I am approaching, switch to melee when I get close enough and dodge out and switch back to ranged when my health gets low. Also, like the people already said, don’t just stand there and hit it. Circle strafe around it continuously as you fight to avoid damage.
You might want to watch enigmius1, his Guild Wars 2 videos. I can’t seem to put up a link right now for some reason. But it was called Surviving Tyria: Beginners guide to mobility.

Get the healing signet thing! It heals you a little all the time but you can also use it like a regular healing spell if you’re in trouble.
