Q:

how do you make friends in gw2?

As stated, I honestly do not know how to make friends in gw2. The friends i have in my friend list are the ones I know from other games or irl. I have yet to actually “make” a friend in gw2. Even when i joined a guild, there are usually noone that talks in the guild chat for me to even make a friend. The reason I am asking this is, because I want to be able to go into dungeons and such, to complete my gw2 experience.

Best way is probably to join an active guild. The guild you’re in probably is not organized and have no structure. There are well established active guild out there. You can check out the guilds section on the forum and post for what you are looking in a guild and people will give you an invite in to numerous guilds you can choose from. Established Guilds are also really good to find a quick group for going on dungeons or WvW.

I make friends with the people who I ended up doing successful dungeons with, and thus they’re all from different servers. I think ‘friend’ is a loose word here, more of acquaintance.

Just be more brazen in talking, you can’t please everyone but if someone likes you then there, you got a friend.

I agree with Jacen, in the fact you may have not joined the fight guild for you. Usually you may want a small to medium sized guild with maybe 10-30 active players if you wish to truly get to know and have fun growing with your guild. Theres a guild recruitment forum if you go to it here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds

Just look for a guild that seems to be what you’re looking for, it sounds like you’re a PvE focused player so you may want to look for PvE or PvX guilds. My guild is PvW+X, we’re pretty WvW based but we are well rounded

PvX stands for Player versus anything.
PvE + PvP + PvW = PvX

Edit: I for some reason didn’t see the top part of your post xD

Just say you’re a player who would like to find a nice PvX guild that is very social and likes to have fun. Just be sincere about what kind of guild you’re looking for.

As for your question about active guilds, its hard to know unless if you see them in person.

Yeah, thats about right but you can give more info about yourself and your needs from a guild. Since you like social guilds specify that maybe one with ventrilo or mumble to keep communication with the guild.
What type of guild? (PvE< PvP<WvW<PvX)
Are you willing to transfer servers or not (Free transfrers until Jan. 28th)

Yeah and like Montz said it’s hard to know how active a guild is without trying them out first. One way you might be able to see if they are active or not is on the guilds website, see if they have an events schedule and if their forums are active but even then it’s better to join one and test it out.
There are many examples of players looking for guild on the guilds forum section, heres mine that I posted a couple days ago ( https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/Looking-for-close-knit-friendly-guild/first#post1212220 )
