i ordered last week what will be my first gaming mouse ever, a logitech g600 as i await for it to arrival.

i was wondering if i could get some opinions from people that have used it, are that confy to use with a game like gw2? how long does it takes to get used to it.

oh and, what buttom set up have you find that work or is more confy for you to use? just used the default configuration that cames with the mouse or have you tweaked the buttoms order to your convenience?

I’ve never found the need for more than a 5-button mouse. Logitech MX518 then Razer Deathadder (would not recommend), now Logitech G400.

That aside, as with any keybindings you’re going to have to decide for yourself what works best for you. And chances are it’s going to take some time.

I own a g600, pretty good mouse it’s comfortable. Did some research while I was shopping for mine and what I came up with was a ton of complaints about the naga (double click problem, break after a few months, broken on arrival, etc). The g600 is a more solid mouse, logitech product last years (I still have my mx518 from like 8years ago). Some people say the naga is better for small hands, whereas the g600 is more fit for bigger hands. The naga has mechanical buttons on the side, wich is a plus for razer, but the g600 button are shapped like a cup, so it’s easier to know wich button your thumb is on. Another + is the g shift click on the g600. It’s basically a Shift key on your mouse that lets you bind twice the amount of skills on your mouse, but you wont need that for gw2.

As far as binding goes, my 1-5 skills are q,1,2,3,e my attunements (for ele/engi) are z,x,c,v and I have all my utilities on my mouse, the g9 is my heal, g10 utility 1, g11 elite, g12, utility 2, g13 utility 3, g14 weapon swap. I find the other 6 keys are weird to reach, so I don’t use them. I also bind my push to talk button on the gshift click.

Note that I have small hands and I palm grip my mouse and I have trouble reaching the g15-g20 keys especially the last row, so if you have big hands, expect only able to reach the first 2 rows of key. Unless you claw grip your mouse.

It takes a few days to get used to, my advice would be to remove any other keybinding you have on the skills you plan to use your mouse for. A friend of mine got the naga and he keybinded his mouse side button on top of his current keybind. Needless to say he never used his mouse side button side he’s still using his old keybind

Should ordered a Naga bro. I’ve been using one for 2 years and it’s so simple to get used to. I love it.

Nah, Razer’s QC is crap these days. A Logitech mouse is a much better choice.

I’ve had my G600 for over a year and a half now, and I love it. It did take me a couple days to get used to it and tweak the key-bind profile to perfection. I find it very comfortable in my hand (I have average size hands for a woman, I think?), and can reach all the thumb buttons I need to, when I need to. On rare occasions, a button will decide not to work. Just go into the Logitech software and manually switch to a different profile and then back to the primary one and that will fix it. (it’ll make more sense when you get it and start setting it up )

Happy gaming

Considering g600 copied Naga’s most important feature (12 thumb buttons), it’s basically the same mouse from the standpoint of comparison.
So, it’s more or less just a question of quality and personal preference. I’ve had my Naga for 3-4 years and during that time I had to repair my left mouse button (a tiny drop of super glue solved it), but other than that I’ve had no problems at all. I have no experience with g600.

Also a question of the size of your hands. Personally since i have smaller hands
i must say that the Naga is better for me.
For quality i would say the G600 is better, have often problem where my cursor
doesn’t move for a while on the Naga .. but at least it seems cleaning the sensor
with alcohol helps for a while.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

I have both a Logitech G700 (this one has 4 thumb buttons and 3 on top of the mouse) and a G600, so you might be interested in my comparison of a somewhat normal mouse (G700) and a MMO mouse (G600).

My layout on my G600:

F1..F4 and skills 1..5 and 7..9: mouse buttons 1..12
Dodge: G-Shift Key (this is cool!)
skill 10: press mouse wheel
pick up aoe loot: tilt mouse wheel left
switch weapon: tilt mouse wheel right
skill 6 (heal): R
Movement via ESDF instead of WASD
Interact: V

My layout on my G700:

F1..F4: mouse thumb buttons 1..4
skills1..5: keys 1..5 as usual
skill 6: key R
skill 7-9: keys T,G,B
dodge: key X
skill 10: press mouse wheel
pick up aoe loot: tilt mouse wheel left
switch weapon: tilt mouse wheel right
Movement via ESDF instead of WASD
Interact: V

I don’t click skills, I use the keyboard. With the G600, I tried to move skill usage to the mouse buttons and free my left hand for movement only, so I could react faster and be more precise in combat situations.

Unfortunately, in the long run, I prefer the G700. The profession-skills F1..F4 on the mouse is essential, but it is enough load on the right hand.

After practice, it finally takes about 1-2 seconds to activate a skill on the G600 instead of a split second with the keyboard. This is much too long.
I practiced quite some evenings, ingame and out of game, to make pressing the skills on the mouse an automated action without thinking as with the keyboard. But I was never able to get faster than about 1-2 seconds per skill. It’s the latency of the mind and of the thumb: it takes this 1 second from the decision to activate a skill, to the movement of the thumb, the pressing of the button, and finally the activation. Additionally, pressing a G600 key needs some power, and you have to hold against the mouse with your little finger or ring finger to not have the mouse slip away. This kills any precision.

The pressing of the corresponding key on the keyboard instead is much faster, which is supported by the fact that on my left hand, I have 4 fingers to activate 9 different skill keys. On the G600 it is only 1 finger for 12 different skill keys, and moreover, it is the slow thumb and not a fast finger like index or middle finger.

Mixing movement and skill usage with my left hand and only having F1..F4 on the mouse was always faster for me than moving only with the left hand and having all skills on the mouse with the right hand and being able to move and activating a skill in the same time.

I own a G700 as well, but I found a slightly different layout to work in my case. Basically, to bind anything well away from the left hand’s normal reach to the mouse – using the mouse’s software only.

Skill 6 – G5 (set as ‘6’)
Skill 10 – G7 (set as ‘0’)
Skill 7-9 – Top Buttons G8-G10 (set as 7-9)
Weapon swap/drop – Click Wheel (set as `)
Dodge – Right Scroll/Tap of Wheel (set as V). This one was pleasantly intuitive btw.

And the two thumb buttons close to me are reserved as ‘PTT1’ and ‘PTT2’ (as there was a time when I had two voice chats up – Guild and Server).

I keep the above key bindings as my default as well; Comes in handy when playing other games that use 1-0 like MineCraft – I leave ‘quick hit’ items (usually torches and food) on the 7-9 positions. I had a similar re-bind setup for Secret World (dodge in particular was very important to re-bind), and will probably continue this when trying out other games.

As one aside, I don’t use the F1-4/5 on professions very often, as I don’t play hardcore/professional (my wrists/hands won’t allow that anyway). But just consolidating the normal ‘right hand’ keys over to the mouse has been a great help.

How big are your hands? If you have very small hands, I recommend getting your hands on an OLD naga epic. The new naga epic chroma and the logitech g600 are much bigger than the old naga epic and very uncomfortable to use if you have small hands. I mean using these mice (I’ve have both) caused me 2 weeks of wrist and hand pain and having to wear a wrist brace. No joke. Ended up going back to using my old naga. I’m really worried about what I’m going to do. I can buy up a few old naga epics, but eventually the supply will run out and I don’t know of any other small mice like this. sighs

Anyway, the old naga epic was extremely comfortable (I used the classic grip) and didn’t take very long to learn to use. I highly recommend it. Now if you have larger hands, then both the g600 and the naga epic chroma are perfectly fine mice I’m sure.

I used to use the Naga, but as xarallei.4279 said, the old ones were designed for little hands. I find the G600 pretty good sizewise. The 12 buttons are easy to configure. I create a new profile for each character I am playing and switch using Logitech Gaming Software application.

FYI, I also use the Logitech G13 game pad. G13 for left hand, G600 for right hand. Just about eliminates the keyboard entirely except for messaging.

Hope you get what you need and enjoy. Good luck!
