toughness or vitality end game
Armor works best for direct damage, where vit works best for condi’s so it really depends on what you’re fighting. Pve generally lacks condi’s or they are easily cleared, but in pve zerk or go home is the meta.
Toughness is sustained survival, vitality is spike survival.
thanks it helps alot thanks for the additional insight aswell
In PVE, go full damage i.e. zerker.
In WvW vitality is more important IMO.
PVP, well armors stats are free to change so no worries.
Mmmm mmm mmm, gotta love that full glass cannon in PVE.
Toughness
Toughness is almost always better than Vitality. Simple reason is it scales with Healing Power better than Vitality does.
With vitality sure you can take bigger hits, and more of them than if you had high toughness/low hp. But that’s just it, everything will be hitting hard.
The reason toughness is better is because it mitigates damage, so something that would be a big hit on a vitality build may not be anything to worry about in a toughness build. Having low max HP isn’t always a bad thing, it MAY work in your favor actually as its easier to bring yourself back to full health without much of an effort. Where if you are running vitality and have near 30K HP, it will take a LOT and I mean a LOT of healing/healing power to get you back up to a healthy amount.
To sum everything up
Vitality
- Bigger Pool – Can take more hits
- Everything Hurts
- Harder to Heal and Keep Alive once you start taking damage
Toughness
- Lower Pool- Cant take as much damage
- Things don’t hit nowhere near as much
- Easier to keep alive due to not needing as many heals to heal back up.
This applies to all game modes, PVE, sPVP and WvW (especially WvW)
