transmutated items salvage-able?

So I’ve had the Mad King’s Slippers sitting in my inventory since last October. They’re exotic and have a fairly valuable rune in them, but they’re unsalvagable. I’d like to get the rune and any potential ectos from them, but I’d hate to waste a Transmuation Crystal. If I transmute them, will I then be able to salvage the foot gear? Thanks.

the transmuted item would be salvageable only if you do NOT keep the unsalvageable item’s stats. I believe that’s how it goes.
note, however, that if you transmute it with a white item, there won’t be a chance you’ll get ectos from the salvage. basically, there is no way to get ectos out of this. but you can get the rune. since you’re going to salvage it anyways, there’s no need to even keep the item’s look.
in short: transmute it, keep the white item’s look and stats, make sure to keep the rune, then you can salvage it (probably with a BLSK) to get some mithril (or thick leather or silk) and the rune.
