what do i do with rare items
Depends. I sell them if I need money or salvage them if not. I also sometimes save enough of them and dump them in the Forge. Though that seems more a waste than not anymore.
if there between 70-80 and not planning on using them, salvage them with a masters. sure not every one will give you ecto but imagine this. most rares sell for under 30 silver, and ecto can be 30 silver or higher. with a chance to get 1-3 each time. add in the extra material. and possible sigil. its not a bad profit.
or if you feel the odds are not in your favor sell them for the sure fire 25-30 silver.

The price of rares have dropped since the last patch. I usually end up salvaging or burning them in the forge.
I usually sell the rares I get on the trading post. Like others have said you will get around 20-30s or above for each. I will only salvage them if i need the ectos. But keep in mind only rares that are level 68-80 will produce ectos also use a black lion salvage kit or a master kit when salvaging them.
