I’m quite new to the game and I recently found out how to salvage items using salvage kits. But, somehow, I can’t figure out why I cannot salvage some regular weapons and armor. I’m only lvl 15 on two characters at the moment so I’m not speaking of any special type of weapon here.

For instance, I have a short dagger and a bow and both of them have the same lvl requirement but I may only salvage the bow. I tried with different salvage kits but I remain unable to salvage said dagger. Can anyone tell me what it is I’m missing?

Any item you get as a level reward can’t be salvaged. Also any item you purchased at a karma vendor can’t be salvaged.

To add to that, you also cannot salvage anything bought with badges of honor.

If you bought it with currency that isn’t gold, it’s likely not salvageable.

Note that you can throw those unsalvageable items into the Mystic Forge for a chance at a new item that you can either use or salvage (although you will sometimes get an item that ALSO cannot be salvaged).

In which case save it until you have enough of same and reforge! The forge is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get!
