1 Simple Way to Improve Free tPvP experience.
They are adding matchmaking, but it will not take into account your group format. If you and 4 other good players queue, you will stay most likely get rolled by premades since the system won’t differentiate between the two.
See, I think the rating system they are implementing will actually mitigate that. As I understand it… if you are personally good, but are getting rolled by premades, well then your tPvP ranking won’t be good for a while.
The upshot of this, you will then either be playing against other pugs, or against bad premades that also can’t bet other premades. Again, this will encourage people to build community and start playing together more in order to get better.
The simple fact is, if you are part are not part of a premade but yet all of you are still really good individually, yea you might get beaten by some mediocre premades, but that is because you are actually worse than that premade team. This ranking system should give you that appropriate ranking to keep you from constantly getting stomped though =).

I disagree, if the two groups are equally skilled, it can be quite an even match, I have gone into tPvP solo and won against enemy guild groups a few times.

Considering how little info we are provided on enemy positions on the mini map, any team with voice communication should roll over another which don’t. Exceptions are pretty rare, which is why there is a main issue of many people feel that they are getting farmed by these teams, while these teams may not contain players who are as competent.

The problem is, when the new system is in place, you’ll be going against equally skilled players WITH communication. Currently, you can pug against a bad premade and still win. But if they do matchmaking, those players on the premade will be as skilled as you.
It is generally true that a team with voice will beat a team with no voice.
A team generally has voice if they are premade. It is extremely easy to check for premade. If you want to argue say 4-5 members queuing together counts as premade.
Simple fix: match premades with premades.
Also don’t make a premade without using voice unless you want that challenge :P
I don’t know if it’s fair to assume a premade will have voice though. While the serious ones likely will, that’s not necessarily going to be true for all of them, or even necessarily a majority of them. If that’s the case, then the rating system should eventually raise organized premades to a level where pugs will almost certainly never encounter them.
Adding matchmaking w/o splitting premade vs pug won’t change a thing.
I honestly have no idea what they’re thinking.
They should just be imitating LoL completely. Competitive Solo Queue is a HUUUGE factor.
If you want to premade to stomp pugs, that’s what hotmess is for.
And yes, let Hotjoin for now on be known as “Hotmess”.
I’m willing to give it a chance, but yes, I would rather have “competitive solo queue.”
Pugs vs bad premades is pretty much the current system, so it probably won’t feel much different.
In a related note, hotjoin will continue to destroy the PvP playerbase, especially now that everyone doing tournaments jumps into a hotjoin for 1-2 minutes between each match to farm glory. If Anet can think of any way to get rid of hotjoin, they should take it.

Look up hot-mess™ or hotmess™ in the forum search feature. I beat you to it!

• Painful partying system with one or 2 friends. Especially those who are just learning the game. It’s either fight against each other in Hot-Mess, or get touched inappropriately in TPvP
premades vs random is a symptom of a larger issue, primary server based heart of the mists with very low player pool even at peak hours for players to organize into groups.
once the mists is region based much like temple of balthazar in gw1 with multiple districts it will solve many problems.
Peace,
Volted.
