Every competitive pvp game has a ready button for an obvious reason, when there is a queue people do other things.

Yet GW2 still has nothing and instead chooses to punish people who don’t sit in a lobby doing nothing for up to 10 minutes.

A ready button would prevent 4v5s, yet still nothing.

They have a ready button, it’s the Join button.

They have another ready button when the match actually starts.

The join button isn’t a ready button, it automatically joins you after 2 minutes.

The ‘other’ ready button isn’t a ready button, it automatically starts the game 10 seconds after the join button automatically joins you (sometimes less depending on loading times).

Neither of these require user input, which is the only thing that would prevent 4v5s.

Every other multiplayer game that requires balanced teams has a ready button, yet GW2 does not.

In fairness, he may have a very good reason for not knowing this. One way to never know that the “Join” button defaults you into the game after 2 minutes, is if you’re never AFK and always click it.

Can’t really fault a guy for never AFK -ing.

So if you don’t confirm you want to enter a match then after 60 seconds people are entered anyways?

So the ready buttons already exist, what people actually want is to change the way that particular part of joining a match works. They want the yes to mandatory to enter the match, and for the auto join after the time limit to go away.

It is better to play a 4 vs 5 than wait 20min to play a match because one person don’t ready up.

What I really want to see is a indicator (like a flashing Icon in the task bar) when I minimized the game so I can do other things while I wait.

I should add to this. You’d also want to leave the existing time limit counter and kick the player that doesn’t select Yes to enter the match after time expires (a short time limit, under 30 seconds). Finally you’d want to quickly pull in another player and give them the short time limit as well, and they can either select Yes to join, cancel, or be auto kicked after the time limit. Repeat until the match is even.

The ready button is a joke it has no use. It needs to be improved. Here is what a ready button does in counter strike go

People queue up for solo queue go use the washroom, smoke, eat, etc and forget they even queued so they come back and find themselves in a game because after you queue up the game automatically puts you in a match. Another issue is there is no sound when the match is ready a lot of people tab out of the game and when the popup comes to enter the game no distinguishable sound is played to let players know that the match is ready. Now you can’t reduce 4v5 completely but you can lessen the chance of it happening

Now we’re getting somewhere.

Addressing specifics and providing potential solutions.

The solution is as simple as the match simply NOT STARTING if someone hasn’t manually clicked the Join button, removing them from the queue, popping-up a Join button for the next person in queue, then commence match.

Anyway we’re far beyond solutions at this point, ArenaNet has enough player solutions thrown at them to fill their entire office with post-it notes.

They need to cut the constant delaying/ignorance and ACT.
