That’s because it was unequivocally Over Powered.

Doesn’t matter how “hard” it is to land, no trait should give that much extra damage.

The new kit refinement is pretty cool, magnetic aura I especially like.

Never ran it. Tbh the best engy build even before 100nades nerf was HGH conditions on engy. Long as your top build is left ok, your ok.

they mentioned a mug nerf in sotg, duno why its not in. if thief got that + stealth nerf they’d absolutely need compensation though..

Funny how people disliked 100nade, while HGH PP are a lot stronger.

But people don’t mind dying over time, they only remember being one shotted while they were running a build without CC breaker, defence mecanis, thoughtness, and without dodging.

Also they only remember a fake 24k damage screen shot.

But seriously, the real reason was that we complained about it last patch. Now this patch we all knew it was gone. So most people had already switched build.

But people don’t mind dying over time, they only remember being one shotted while they were running a build without CC breaker, defence mecanis, thoughtness, and without dodging.

Also they only remember a fake 24k damage screen shot.

I wasn’t surprised that no one was sad it’s gone. I was a little surprised that no one was HAPPY it’s gone. I thought it was removed because other professions disliked playing against burst that high. Seems that no one even noticed it’s gone now.

The 100 nades nerf was a perfect example of changes done right.

1. It was needed
2. They told us it was coming
3. They actually did it
4. The change is interesting (lots of new effects, rather than just scaling down the numbers)

I am a little sad that it’s gone, since we had one in our group… but not enough to post about it. I know they are never going to bring it back, and although it affects my overall team, I still think it’s a good change.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with the fact that 100nades is gone. You’re right, they told us they were eliminating it. I don’t like playing burst builds in general. I’ve never played 100nades.

But the fact that no one notices it was gone probably means this probably should not have been so high on the list of balance priorities. On the WvW forum, there is a thread about how maybe the LoS change to grenades will make engineers more useful in sieges, but nothing concerning 100nades. This is the only thread on the PvP forum about it. There isn’t even much talk on the engineer forum about it. We’re talking about a total removal of a build. This is the most serious nerf to any profession since the nerf to flamethrower in September. How many other builds have been completely removed from the game?

There were also some problems with the way the change was implemented—for example, engineers who didn’t like using elixirs used the same trait for a little bit of condition removal from other kits. Engineers who use multiple kits are largely changing their builds so that they won’t get the wrong effect by mistake and lock themselves out of a useful effect for 20 more seconds. So I wouldn’t expect to see many of those new, interesting effects, but I would expect to see more condi nades elixir engineers.

Probably everyone saw this nerf coming, that’s why no one is complaining about it.

I mean, come on. 50% of the players rerolled an engi for the easy kills.

As an Engi myself, I’m glad this build got removed before we had the chance to get pigeonholed in one role.

(class stronger than mine) is OP. (my class) is underpowered. (classes I beat easily) are fine.

Was 100nades popular in WvW? I mostly tpvp, so I can’t say. In tpvp it caused many an angry whisper (more than anything else I’ve seen).

How many other builds have been destroyed? Well 100 blades just got pretty wrecked with the haste change. And 100 nades was way more OP than 100 blades ( I suspect something will be done to help warriors eventually). The real question is, what builds have been as OP as 100nades? Go watch pandacache/steamhawke on twitch and tell me it’s fair :P

I agree here. All the effects are very strong, so they need a long cooldown. But now that they are supportive mostly instead of damage, they should make the cooldown individual rather than shared, since there’s no benefit to spam them all at once. I also think the effects should shorter and with shorter cooldown, so facilitate plenty of kit swapping. Like a 1-2 second magnetic Aura instead of 2-3.

Can’t exactly agree there…drop a mine? Gain fire aura? Those aren’t exactly things you spend a trait to be able to do once every 20 seconds, especially since you can only do one or the other every 20 seconds, not both.

I agree that warriors are possibly even worse off after this build, but my point was that no other build has been targeted and completely removed like this one. 100nades isn’t weak like 100blades is, it doesn’t exist anymore. Thief burst builds have been significantly reduced in the past after dozens of pages of complaints. Ele healing has been very slightly reduced after dozens of pages of complaints. Nothing has ever been completely removed before, and the first thing to be completely removed from the game is something very few people were using or concerned about.

Lets be real, no body was concerned.. theif can kill twice as fast and backstab has a 4s (revealed ) cool down ?

Developers just seem to have something against Engineers, on the state of the game, they compared RotL being as strong as Engineer being able to dodge 4 times while carrying the orb on the new map ? we’re “suppose” to be a mid range class that playing an important role in control.. all control skills were given to guardian.

as a rank 40 who used to run my version of this build, can tell you, not a lot of people runned 100nades on sPvP… it was rare but got removed anyways..
