kind of sad to see how many things dont make it into the game, i would love to see new maps for conquest , even without special feature like lord or creature , just a regular map for the sake of letting me see something new

This version of raid on the capricorn looks quite good! Remove water-capturepoint and reimplement this map:)

Every time they try to add a new map there’s a huge community backlash that finds a reason to hate it. Why would they bother to add new maps?

I think it’s because they mixed new maps which are rather different in play (Courtyard is another game mode and Skyhammer ,while CTP, knockback wonderland) with regular CTP maps and put them all in one queue. Temple for instance isn’t really hated and wasn’t here on release.

I wouldn’t mind if they were adding new, even unfinished, beta maps to Custom Arenas.
If people did like them, they’d place them in hotjoin rotation and then further maybe.

Nobody would really be forced to play them since it would be just custom servers, maybe even marked with BETA sign. We would have fun, they would have feedback. I’m down for such testing, anyway.

I’m surprised that there haven’t been many most simple, small 3v3 arenas with some LoS in WP’s video. I know that one of Charr ones shown in the video was previewed couple years ago as much smaller version, Dalaran Sewers-style.

And gib me back my Capricorn as a choice for Custom Arena.

I think it’s really sad to see these. Some of them were amazing!! They should really do something with them. I would love to see some more deathmatch maps as well! It’s quite a fun game mode with its own dynamics and having some deathmatch maps with secondary objectives would probably be really cool.

True, some of these maps look really good. I’d be down for testing more maps in custom servers too.

And especially this last MOBA-Style map looked really fun in my opinion..if there are some other objectives than these towers (for example something like in LoL, with monsters that give significant buffs)

Would be kinda awesome to see these available in custom arenas. Variety is great—even if you don’t feel the maps are optimized for the highest level of competitive play.

So I think they tried to separate from Conquest, try something new, but they just didn’t find a good different game mode. Some may consider all these “possible” unused sPvP maps a waste of resources, but I don’t. They tested it and it didn’t work, they could improve on their mistakes on those maps, giving them experience, so in my opinion, although literaly a waste, it’s not terrible but good.

P.S.: The Courtyard-like map looked sick! Or the possible “Deathmatch” -like maps too!

I think the problem with Spirit Watch is the rate at which the orb spawns. I think if it spawned less frequently like tranquility or stillness (at specific times on the clock) on Temple the community would like it a lot better because it would be easier for unorganized teams to play.

I think many maps have good tdm potential. The current issue with courtyard is the map is little and circular and there are too many Walls.

Some los element is good and necessary, same with kiting paths, but simply courtyard has too many los elements and kiting paths are bad.

I think with the guild hall and great chance to customize arenas, people will come to an ideal standard for a tdm map, and probably it could be exported to spvp.

The issue isn’t the new maps. The issue is that they try to add new gimmicks to the map. ANET needs to learn that sometimes simpler is better. People want the focus to be on PvP, not on gimmicks. That’s why spirit watch and skyhammer have been so unpopular and not suitable for competitive play.

If ANET would focus on why foefire, forest, khylo, and temple are popular, they could create some new good maps.

There is a reason because people like forest beach for 1vs1 and 2vs2: large space, spawn points close, some little los elements and some place where teleports dont work.

Conquest has 4 competitive maps and 2 casual maps

Tdm only 1 bad map.

Good options would be new conquest competitive map or a (finally) good tdm map.

Imho a good tdm map is better.

Really simple and work really well

It’s really not a good design for anything besides running between points as it is far too open with basically no LoS, but people got used to it and Courtyard middle which would be far better sadly has problem with bridge pillar.

I 100% agree, some new visuals would make it seem more refreshing. There is not a lot of maps, so any kind of new addition would be welcome. Glad that we get stronghold, that’s at least 1 extra, but sadly nothing new to ranked.
