24 Servers and a low Paid Tourney population
They should consider merging the heart of the mists or something IDK.
Treat it like lions arch, where you have overflows or something.
A big reason so few teams play paids is they cost tickets which cost either farm time, or RL money. and if ur not good u get stomped in paids. So ppl dont want to pay money or farm time just to get stomped.
Its the hugest barrier to entry. they want to monotize pvp, but to make pvp worthwhile it needs to be popular. Getting in the way of it being popular isnt helping pvp grow in value.
They need to insentivise ppl to pvp not disinsentivess them.
You made this exact post over here
And then deleted your posts? Or did ANet do that for you?
Although it is good you are using more realistic numbers than 100k people online.
I don’t know man, like I said I think the cost is to high for the little reward you get, they just don’t seem worth it.
Paids (not the new 1v1 system) are only valuable to the 2nd and 1st place based on the rewards. That’s the problem why not “competitive teams” struggle with it. It’s a business backwards, so teams from 3th to 8th place will have a constant decrease of tickets.
Now with the new 1v1 mode that costs 1 ticket per match it’s well balanced between entry fee and reward. So there’s a big hope on this mode to keep it.
I will tell you sthing, after all 60 friends/netfriends left GW2, and because this game is so anti-social, i havent managed to get a team to play paid-tournies, moreover the amount of teams that actually play in paid and free tournaments is not THAT high. The game has mostly indivinduals, i am pretty sure, that if Arenanet brings a solo/duo paid tournament, you would get some very fast queues.
P.S i do NOT plan to make a PUG and try paids, that’s the purpose of Free tournaments. I do not plan to go and just waste all my tickets for no apparent reason.
I have good news for you then. Read the update patch from 28th January. This will socialze the whole thing and bring it up to a new and more beginner friendly level.
