I don’t enjoy PvE, I shouldn’t have to play it to have an advantage in PvP. By allowing some to have the heals unlocked, while others do not, it puts these players on unequal grounds, as one has access to a skill that the other does not.
Can we just add PvE stats to PvP gear and call it WvW Arenas at this point?

Don’t overreact, the difference in ‘equal footing’ by those who have the new heals and who don’t is pretty abysmal. I think only a couple of them are even conceivably better in some situations. A majority of PvE Group Support heals, far and wide.
I question the decision too.. seeing as PvP is first and foremost where you go to unlock all the skills and gear. But nobody’s really suffering, is my point.

I definitely do not expect myself to do better with these new spells, I just wish to have them in PvP is all! To spend 37,500 Glory + 5G per character is just insane. I thought the idea was to bring in more PvP players, so why do PvP players have to go through such a big hoop for a new skill? It’s backwards

cause the “bring ins” are pve-players who have a lot of skillpoints. also pve-players can carry over the already obtained armor and weapon skins with no problem. on the other hand from pvp to pve isnt possible. guys i hope u would read more. a lot of ppl said that this is a pve-update not a pvp-update. the reward is mainly for pve-ppl playing pvp.
after all i dont understand the problem. there is a thread started a couple days ago, that is asking for backward reward of gold and one for backward reward of new glory/rankpoints.. and only a small amount of ppl ( in comparision to the rank-removethreads) has backed the topic-op up.. so all i see is, u get what u wanted. a reward. u asked not who has the best out of it. ppl told u, ppl tried to change. and ignorance stopped it. now live with it.

And it’s actually a little bit more than 37,500 Glory and 5G. You need to level yourself to level 29 to get 25 skill points, since you get your first skill point at level 5.
I’ve been saying this since the blog, but I’m surprised so many people didn’t know, lol…
The entire premise of PvP in GW2 as advertised and loved by many is that all skills, traits, and equipment are unlocked from the beginning to allow an equal playing field. This patch completely undermines that premise and is a kick in the face to all PvP players.
It’s an incredibly disappointing decision and I’m shocked by just how many people didn’t know about it or actually support it.

Huh? Since when you do you need to unlock a skill in PvP? Is this new now? Have only tried my main and unlocked it in PvE and then went to PvP so I could not have noticed and thought it was just unlocked because all stuff there usually is unlocked and not because I bought it already in PvE and it otherwise would be locked.

It’s not a bug, it’s an intended update that was made very clear in both the PvP roadmap blog and the first biweekly PvP stream “Ready Up”. All new skills added to the game will require unlocking in PvP.

You mean “… of ArenaNet ruining the game”? I don’t think anyone new starting will like this. Because they completely ruin the game and the system they made which allowed you to just be a new player and start PvP – everyone with the same stats and skills.
When will we have to unlock the other old skills and just take our PvE armor to sPvP(to make even armor differences and stats differences)? Only a matter of time.
And now we can safely say: ArenaNet abandoned the idea of esports – because with this they can bury what little hope there was left of turning the game into an esport.
It’s PvE now.
Not that I care… I have tons of skill points because I play all parts of the game and aim for world completion 100 percent on all chars(giving tons of skill points already). And there will still be enough PvP players left to play against.
But overall it is bad for the state of the game and if they really still might try to aim for esports.
I have 0 SP across characters and I assume it’ll take me a while to get the required points to unlock it across all of them. I liked the fact that GW2 presented sPvP in such a way that all players are on the same playing field. I liked the idea that it was detached from PvE/WvW given the fact that it was its own structured system, this interweaving between PvE and sPvP is no bueno if done this way.

This. The pvp rewards cost gold (and are actually quite expensive) which spvp players don’t have, and yet if we fork out to buy the items we cannot use them in pve?!
Sorry I don’t understand, seems totally nuts to me.
If the items have a heavy gold and glory cost (which they do- I think the T3 cultural is 60g and I’m sure I heard the devs say it costs 120g to buy normally (pve) on the guildcast), we should be able to use it in pve.
Otherwise pve players should have to buy the spvp skins and cannot use their gear in spvp.
What the hell happened?
