Lately there has been a number of really unfair Solo Arena Matchup. I have been in a number of games where it was 3v5 from the very start of the game. My side has 3 people and the opponent side have 5. From the start we have been “zerged” when we come out of the starting area and keep dying. The opponent have captured all 3 points and were killing us when we get out of the starting area.

This is not a single incidence. I have 3v5 matchup several times in a row, and the final score is 12 vs 502. The gap in the score is so huge its not even funny.

I have heard about exploits where if 5 people in a single group synchronized and enter the solo arena AT THE SAME INSTANCE in time, they get into the same group. Have the developers check such exploits?

All I can say is that 3v5 matchup is just totally wrong. Please note that NO ONE LEFT. One team just started with 3 people at the beginning of the solo arena match!!!

This is such a serious issue, I would like a developer to respond and tell us what they are doing to fix the problem? Anet developer, please respond!!!

i doubt anyone would sync queue with double guard double mes… unless that’ s their strategy to make you think that they didnt sync o_o

My point is that when we signed up for Solo Arena, we expect Arenanet to provide us with a fair 5v5 fight instead of an unfair 3v5 fight.
Arenanet should NEVER have started the fight with 3v5. They should wait until there is a 5v5 team before starting it.
I am sure beside myself there are other people who have encountered 4v5 and 3v5 fights before. Why is this happening?
Can the developers from Arenanet give us a response please. Thank you very much, Arenanet for taking time to let us know why this is happening.

I’m getting 4v5 matchs from time to time, although it used to happen a lot more when it was 3 rounds tournaments.

Maybe such matchs where you are 4v5 from the start( one player never joined the battleground, to make it fair) until the end should not count towards the leaderboard..

I do not get it why it is so hard do delay the game by 30sec and invite the next in the solo que for a game. I had also some games we started 4vs5.

If a player leaves ok. But to start with 4 people is stupid.

yesterday i had 4 4v5 games and 13 3v5 games. so you can guess that my losses stacked up quite a bit.. for sure.. lol. but its w.e games like that is what makes ppl afk.. untill they fix this.. solo q is kinda pointless now.

Match resigned, if both teams don’t Match Draw.

Darnis has good suggestion, but it would require additional controls too to keep one player from “not readying” himself for any game that looks to be a bad matchup.

Frankly, the problems with Solo Q are much deeper.

I’m afraid the Solo Q is turning off more people to the game than it is attracting.

I’ve played almost 150 games and can count on two hands the number of legitimate games.

In theory, it’s a great feature, but who is genuinely enjoying it and getting fair matches???

The biggest problems are…

1. Sync queing – Those who did it from the start got high ranking and MMR. Those who didn’t and still don’t are now at a distinct disadvantage from those that do. This turns more people off than attracts them to the game.

2. MMR – What could be more obvious of a problem then just looking at the leaderboard? They are a complete sham. Initial rating is based on far too small a sample size and it’s almost impossible to move afterward. There are a handful of great players in the top 50, but count how many aren’t bunkers, didn’t sync que at all, and have played 100+ games. The deterioration of ranking from not playing is FAR too slow. This turns more people off than attracts them to the game.

3. Afkers – Forget about the leaderboards. Even if you want to just gauge your own win/loss performance, you can’t do it accurately. Literally 30-50% of all games have an afk problem. How can you enjoy the match or accurately kitten how well you are doing? This turns more people off than attracts them to the game.

4. Matchmaking – The team with the most bunkers wins. How many times has a team WITHOUT a bunker beaten a team with a bunker? It doesn’t happen except in the most rare scenarios, so….again…30-50% of matches are corrupt before they even start. This turns more people off than attracts them to the game.

It’s a shame because all of these things are fixable…maybe not 100%…but much better than the aggravation and sham it is now.

Well, i don’t know in NA but in europe i’m facing 10 minutes queue’s in close to prime time, if they add more things to matchmaking like professions and being sure that everyone is there, it will be what, 20 minutes queue ? I’m not playing then, no way .

What’s the point in a que popping in 1 minute if the game is totally corrupt with afkers or total mismatches from the start???

You can hotjoin while waiting, so what is the problem?

If you’re going to rank and kitten certain aspects of PvP, then CREDIBILITY needs to be the priority over convenience.

Haha, oh wow, I remember this game. I’m Lux Caelum from that game. I don’t know anything about sync queuing so I promise you that was not on purpose. Anyways, I had my fair share of 4v5 and 3v5 games that day. Obviously it’s a problem and it sucks and hopefully Anet will have a solution to it sometime soon.
